  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Major Announcement- July 6th

My thought is that Jannard could jump on the crypto currency stuff.

"Have your credit card ready." Simply exchange your money early and become super rich in a new kind of bitcoin spinoff. A coin that works and have a pretty solid man behind it to back it up.

Something that changes everything for everyone is probably not a phone or a new red camera model. And "tell everyone you know" dos seam to be a bit wider than cameras, money who does not need it? :)

If we are giving out awards for most creative guess, I nominate Björn Benckert.

OK... just because you guys are trying so hard.

1. It is not world peace. I wish we could deliver.

2. It is not energy related. We will leave that up to Elon Musk.

3. It is not time travel. That is just not going to happen.

4. It is not saving wildlife. Although I am fully engaged in that cause.

5. It is not VR... which I think is as obsolete as 3D. No one has just acknowledged this yet.

6. It is not AR... which I think is doomed because no one wants to wear a headset. Think about it.

Every once in awhile everything changes. That's what we have.

Jim

It is not VR..., It is not AR... What about MR? I bet it's Red Glasses MR

did he mean PST or is that a typo mistake since CA is on daylight savings now?
Maybe Fiji is still on standard time... it is in the Pacific, you know. '-)

Sorry. PDT. Will change the post. Thanks.

Space, time, travel, electronics...

Hard drive space that saves time for travel? Maybe a new form off ultra high density SSD or flash memory with even faster speeds, low power requirements to help battery life when traveling?
example:
10TB internal SSD-ish or flash memory with read/write speeds up to 2GBps for your phone, laptop or hmmm REDMAG!?

this is my best guess.

X-ray vision sunglasses... :emote_hippie:

OKAY My guess is a small action camera. Helium Sensor with a 5K chip and a built-in lens (or possible 2 swappable lenses). Bigger than a Gopro but still very small and lightweight. Not waterproof on its own but may come in a housing. Records onto Micro SD, C.Fast 2.0 or built-in internal 240GB memory (optional 480GB upgrade).

This will help keep all those action shots (or scary situations where you don't want to put your RED) possible and still match your Helium camera.
Frame rates will be limited and playback will only be possible through an external device since this bad boy will of course shoot RAW but in order to save on hardware wight/size it won't be capable of doing playback on its own/internally. Plus with all the monitors that have proxy recording out there it's not that big a deal since this little thing will also have a single 3G SDI.

Optional battery module to keep size down.

Frame Rates
5K Full at 48 fps widescreen at 72
4k Full at 72 fps widescreen at 96

No screen but sidekick style buttons.

As for a name I'd call this the RED P-Shooter but that's probably not what they'd go with. Maybe the R-Shooter?
Size probably 1/4 of an Epic Brain or about 3-4 times the size of a gopro, weight around 500-1000g.

Cost - between $2500-5000.

Ports will be: power, 3D SDI, Sync/control, and USB-3 or something to dump footage from.

This would be a great product category and really complete the RED system in a way that allows us to put a RED sensor ANYWHERE we want.

Anyone guess it could be a 4k streaming box of some kind. A RED RAY 2.0 of sorts with early access to movies and shows. Since 4k has caught up with the masses and no one has come out with a real solid winner.

Just a guess?

I doubt it would be a successor to RED RAY, though I'd not be surprised if RED has something in store for the codec down the line.

With all the speculation going on, my .02

Intelligent eyeglasses with built-in "heads-up" display.
Fully wireless with the ability to interface with a paired RED device. Or maybe to your current portable device - be it Android, iPhone, perhaps even networked home based devices.
Think of it like asking Siri about something and the info appears right in front of you. Anytime, anywhere.
All of our collective knowledge available straight to your eyes.

It would fundamentally change the way we interface with our world in a way that would revolutionize our society.

Tracks well with Jims history as an innovator - not to mention his technological strengths...

Funny you should say that, because I had the thought that this announcement might not be for an individual product to purchase, but rather a stock option, limited partnership options, or something along those lines. The "product" might be something too large for one person to own, but what the hint might imply is that there will be some special offer to Red forum and others who appear at the right time to get in on the ground floor of a larger project. That might also be where the trust element comes in.

one thing i keep thinking is: will this be a "RED" product? cuz the more I think about it the more I think I should be buying red stock

Good luck with that, RED is a private company. Then again, maybe that's what Jim i selling on July 6th. LOL
