  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Macgregor and crew, Salt Flats Utah

With all due respect to Sanjin and others who have gone off on philosophical peregrinations, I just don't think this is the place to do it. Perhaps these conversations fall into the off topic category or maybe there should be a new forum category for the artistic merits of Red.

Either way, my personal preference is to be able to read through a thread of pertinent information.

Steve
There are no others nor useless philosophical peregrinations, only useless Sanjin peregrinations. I'm sorry. I like the guy. I like his posts. His attitude. Not a sheep, as matter of fact. At same time, he's losing his 15 minutes of fame because his show off. Losing his point. Any credibility, going with an unbalanced route. Too much personal.

You should not suggest such things, I find it offensive. If Macgregor wanted a Red, he could have reserved one when we did.

I am extremely glad that Jim offered cameras to Soderberg and Jackson, but now that reserve cameras are on the market, for goodness sakes let those camera operators be the ones to rent their Red's out. There should be no more free Red's for anyone. If even Spielberg jumps up and down and wants to shoot on Red, there are over 40 on the market that can accomodate him, with more on the way soon.

WORD!

Damn.. just popped in to see more of Mac and crews killer work and this thread is full of hot air. If you guys post any more footage, any chance you could PM me so i don't have to troll through all the BS.

Wow, nice first post. I'll pm you... no need to add to the bullshit.:)

macgregors' work is greatly appreciated by an overwhelming majority here... Sanjin is a great guy... just the wrong soap box.

Cheers and welcome to the site koraova,

Andrew

Sanjin is a mix of educated man and a jerk. He has been such an idiot to macgregor. But he's too much valuable. You don't want philosophies here because you don't understand them.

Hey dude! Good to see you here!

Yeah, I agree with what you've said above.

Do you agree because it's his point or for the point? Because if it is for both, I must add my vote to Mr. Benz and filmmaker's gang.

I don't agree with anything Sanjin said... and I think it was unwarranted in this thread.

Balance is a key. Don is right. Unfortunately, Sanjin has been losing it despite his knowledgeable point. Miguel didn't.

Wow, AWESOME. I love this angle and this shot in general. What was the lens/focal length?

I didn't read the whole thread. Can you give me some info about this location? It's amazing. Where is it, permits, etc?

BTW, Juliana, I'm glad to see you here! Welcome. I was just thinking of you and Inga the other day. Has she been out here recently? Chris and I get our hands on RED #400 in Nov and we're already planning a big test shoot/6-minute short for December. :)

Tom. excited for you!... we were out in the Salt Flats. We were a student production, which makes the permit paperwork easier. Not sure on the lens in this shot. The lenses we used were the Zeiss super speed prime set we rented from Redman Movies in Salt Lake.

the Zeiss set I think are T1.3.... with the filters we used, Mac had the lenses open as much as possible. It's his style, I'm sure he can explain in more detail.

You can't achieve that with the Red though? If the lens was above 50mm yes, I could see that. I know they were using Zeiss which has a wider f-stop, that would make sense for indoor dark locations..

So this is in Utah?

BTW, haha, when it comes to permits and locations, I'm always a "student production." :)

Ok I have the BTS video being transferred to hard drive right now.... so look out for some super fun BTS video...

I am back in LA now. Various people from the cast/crew are also back home.

I just wanted to share some of the amazing photos.

Sometimes we would review what was just shot to make sure everything was magically perfect before moving on. (Yes that's Brook Willard)

Not sure if anyone has seen the grabs from the Nike commercial we shot. Here's a shot I took of Mac playing back the quicktime. (Yep that's me =)
