  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

M-X at ISO 2000...

Leo and Fincher did this as a favor... I guess I owe them. :-)

We'll post the motion as soon as we can figure out how to pay the SAG fees. Even though no one charged us for this... fees must be paid.

Jim

Kinda makes me wanna punch someone in the face. Not just because of how idiotic it is, but also because I really want to see this motion :)

First off, literally amazing. Second off, talk about the right way to unveil a chip just before upgrades start!

Looks great Jim. Any chance the R3D could be posted with the new Redcine-x?

Thanks
Paul

so the signal to noise ratio looks fine so far on the stills... great thing.... but what i want to see is how the new sensor deals with high contrast and movement. you know the never ending story of image stutter..... and how it looks like on a big screen in digital and analog projection.... but what we get on info so far looks incredible.... in the arena there will be three big dealers and we will see who will do the best job in imagery and handling.... as post workflow.... so please keep on improving and listening to the crowd...

best regards

rainer

Rainer,

you should go on Tahiti, Pago-Pago, Bora-Bora or Hawaii to get that sort of information

in a way of refreshment and to get out of the frustration in these grey winter days...

...or keep cool and stay patient....

...just kidding... :smilielol5: :biggrinjester:

sorry, but there is...a serious link>>>

Not meaning to sound like a "fanboy", but more a RED owner showing his support.... Fantastic results RED!

There appears to be a bit less blooming and the flame looks much more natural to me versus the R1 sensor as well... we done. I'd imagine that many of us are going to need to stock up on flags, scrims, and ND window film in the near future.

Absolutely Mind Blowing Shot!!!!!!

This "Leo lit with a single match" shot reminds me of a scene from
"The Postman Always Rings Twice". There is a shot where Jack Nickolson
lights a match right in front of his face that I have always admired, but now
this Leo Match Shot will be burned into my memory forever.

I couldn't wait to get home, because Jim finally helped me solve a dilemma I've been having. On my home post-studio monitors(x3) I had been toiling about what new image/images to utilize as my wall papers.

PROBLEM SOLVED :001_cool:

So...it's 18.1.2010.

This was shot by David Fincher on a RED ONE with a Mysterium-X sensor at ISO 2000 and a Master Prime at T 1.3 (or slightly stopped down from there). Key light is only a match. When the match goes out, Leo's face goes black.

There is absolutely no noise reduction in this shot.

Jim

Incredible.

Couldn't resist...to check options @ ISO 2000...

he he he he~~ as the saying goes " you can add noise in post but you can't take it away"

No wonder my lining up the Fincher and DiCaprio IMDB pages didn't provide any cross-matches on the upcoming projects section :)

Saw this M-X footage projected by Sony's new T series 4K projector at Stage 4 RED Hollywood.
Two days later my colleagues and I are still talking about what we witnessed, "Can you believe..."

NTSC standards denote <7.5% on the waveform monitor is a black signal.
The M-X sensor while recording in total darkness shows flat line reportedly <1%. Seemingly noiseless.

This is a significant breakthrough for low light digital 3D acquisition since noise in stereo is very evident.
May also produce significant improvement in low light underwater results.
Especially if it reduces the aliasing effect of Snell's Window on digital picture noise.

What next?

Noise is also the arch-enemy of compression.

Less noise = either a better image for a given bitrate or less bitrate to achieve an image quality goal.

Guys, please stop grading a JPEG picture! This doesn't make sense at all!
