  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Leica R Sleeves

Cinematics makes a sleeve for Contax lenses. While I was at NAB, I checked out the 135mm F2.8 of theirs that had the front end mod installed. Very sturdy and well built. I'd give them an email and get a quote for an entire set if you want to go that route.

Thank you! I'll check them out. I have Leica-R lenses though... :)
 
The Cinematics sleeves shure looks big and shiny but I find them a bit silly... The hole thing rotates and is more like a huge gear for follow focus... Or am I missing something? :)
 
The housing does not rotate as it's fixed onto the rear of the lens (The part that doesn't rotate). It would be quite silly if the whole thing rotated don't you think? :P
 
Ok, so it appears that it may be that GL Optics can replace this fantastic sleeve. I kind of hope so... If this never happens...
Still not shure if I love the idea of sending my lenses to Bejing though... Would rather prefer Switzerland ;)

Actually, at present the whole housing does rotate (silly or not). I ordered a 50mm Canon lens version of their "cine-housed" lenses and was also startled to find out the whole thing rotates. Kind of makes it impossible to use a clip-on matte box. :-)

Possible good news, though. I emailed back and forth with them about this issue and they say they are working on a different design. I plan on posting if anything develops.
