  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

LEICA R on RED: Pictures

mine is from 1981 3133819

Right, and even some of the older ones are sharp too. Last summer I lined up 5–6 from #30... to #38... side-by-side to shoot charts and the crispest of the lot was a #38... rom (which also had the longest piece of dust in the glass). But the softest one tested was also a late rom #37... that looked great at a glance but had fine cleaning marks covering every element (fortunately I returned it in time). The older ones were sharp where they hit focus but I did notice more color bleed in the oof areas. On average the later ones are sharper but can run up to 50% more in price. And in general the 80 is a more challenging lens that take time to learn how to play to its strengths. Missing focus wide open (quite easy to do on these esp with moving subjects) is likely part of the reason some say they're soft.

This one is f2.0 with the 35mm Summicron.

The 35 LUX is great but its only 2 problems are: absurdly high / almost RF like MFD and his brother existence: the 35 CRON which is GORGEOUS! ;)

And unfortunately prices are continually going up while 35 Lux availability is almost non-existent. LRs are no longer the best kept secret they once were and its becoming a crowded marketplace with mirror-less and now Leica's own SL users.
Price aside the 35 Lux and Cron are both superb options that render similarly. In a few loose tests the Lux captured a little more micro-contrast but otherwise the bokeh style, etc. were very similar. The lux is also about twice the size/weight.

Hello Leica Brothers and Sisters,

I'm in NY and I need to shoot an interview, but I am stuck here without my lenses.

Can anybody hook me up with a 50 and 90 cron, EF mount for rent at a doc rate?

PM me, if you can - thanks.

Looking forward to seeing what Weapon/Leica combo produces in the future.

This thread is great. Still catching up on all of this, but thanks for putting it together.

(As a side note, if anyone's looking to part with a late 35/2 and/or 90/2 (358x -> PM me! Looking to match my 50 and 24 38x)

THanks to Mark for the 35/2 Copy!

Figured I'd bug you guys one last time (apologies) before I take the easy road out:

Anyone have 90/2 R 368x - 37x you'd be willing to part with?

Sorry again! Just trying to search everywhere these are popular. THANKS!

NIce! First time I'm actually like "Oh.. maybe I DO need a Lux"

Got any moving footage from that?

I'm going to play with embedding a video from Flickr, it would be fun to see little clips on the form more often.
