Leica Summicrons

Leica Summicrons

Framegrabs from a commercial shoot that I shot on RED Dragon with the Leica Summicrons (21mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 2x doubler for macro shots). Everything was shot with 1/4 BPM.

Hi Mark,
I'm sorry if I'm not back to you, despite your excellent proposals.
I finally complete my set of Leica R with two European owners. It was more convenient for me.
With the approach of my next film, I had to test my set in the emergency with my Scarlet Dragon.
It's very simple, it was a real big revelation!
I shot with Cooke, Zeiss ZE Zeiss Contax, Canon L, which I sell the complete set (in a great rehousing PL) ... and finally, in the year 2015, I finally discovered what I was looking !
With the Re sensor, for me, this is an association, an ideal fusion for rendering particularly Cinematic, so close to the 35mm film.
It's just great!
My set:
2.8 28mm (# 32 ...)
35mm 2 (# 33 ...)
50mm 2 (# 34 ...)
2.8 60mm (# 33 ...)
2.8 90mm (# 32 ...)
135mm 2.8 (# 30 ...)
... But also the Angulon Super 21mm f4.

Initially I wanted the 19mm 2.8, but due to my limited budget, I had to go to the SA 21mm f4. (# 30 ... very beautiful condition).

But this one was a big disappointment. I do not mean that 21 is bad, on the contrary, the result obtained with is excellent, but simply, there is not really consistent with the rest of the set.
Its origins (Schneider) certainly explain its differences with Leica optics. The sharpness remains low and let the blue colors as a priority.
Nothing serious, but I'm not going to keep 21mm.
(I'll sell it to 730 € / $ 820)

Today I return to my research of the 19mm 2.8. and my budget allowed me to think about v2 ...

(and sorry for my bad english…)

Christophe

I am selling a 35mm Lux (very late serial number #372....) and a 50 Lux Ser. #38...... (the 50 Lux is already listed on eBay) both are immaculate, I bought two of each and tested them to find out they are identical so I am selling off the newer and slightly cleaner copies. I'm asking $3750 for the 35mm Lux and $4100 for the 50mm Lux.

Anyone here uses the 35-70mm 2.8? I use the F4 and like to hear very much about that lens, pls pm me.

The 35-70 2.8 is pretty expensive isn't it? Don't think there are many out there shooting on it! By all accounts, an amazing piece of glass...

Question: Looking for ff options for the red and the leicas. The barrels are so small my ff wont reach. what are people using?

Scarlet/35mm (19mm on 5D ;P)

Nice pict/lenses Duane! ;)

I prefer smaller FF units with the Rs. A new favorite is a charming little Shoot35 that just arrived. So far no backlash and its very well constructed.

.i have a small Vocas FF that workes great with Leica R lenses. I can't use it for other lenses (it's been sitting around for a couple years) but now it suddenly has a use.

We use small Vocas FFs as well (for all our stills glass). Work great.

I use my OCONNOR CFF-1 with the lightweight 15mm rod bridge to raise it up to work with the Leicas. I use the lightweight 15mm to 19mm adapter from Shoot35 to attach the unit to my 19mm rods. I also have the Shoot35 follow focus. But, it is geared for too much focus throw since it seems to double the throw. Around 700 degrees for most of the Rs. It does work great for Rokinons and other still lenses with a short focus throw. Seems to be a solidly built unit.
