  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

LEICA R on RED: Pictures

Why some old Leicas don't focus anymore correctly, is not because certain serial group would be like this but more likely some lenses have been adapted to work on other mounts (canon, nikon etc) sometimes with cheap inaccurate adapters. Then when they noticed that the infinity focus was badly off and they went and adjusted focus ring position manually by opening couple of screws. It would work with same kind of faulty specced adapter but now it won't work with original leica nor well made adapters unless it is professionally serviced first to get the original setting back

Sony a7s with Leica R 35-70 f/4. Recently purchased from Mark M, still learning my way around this camera and lens.
Grounded boat shot in Playa del Rey, Sunset shot in Marina del Rey. Both 1-4-15. Graded in Photoshop from RAW stills.

Very nice picts Bill! With that exquisite Leica R color palette.

On a few recent projects the 35-70 F4 was the perfect lens for the job/scene and I've found it matches my LR primes quite nicely.

And I have one for sale if anyone interested, it's an amazing lens! (I own 2 and I want to buy more glass...)

This lense isn't a Leica brand but was design for Leica R camera by Angenieux.
Angenieux actually design two zoom lenses for Leica the 45/90 and 70/210

Here is the zoom.

took your advice and got myself a 28mm...and the 60mm macro, which I have a feeling, could be me new favourite lens.....and a 135mm, will post some shots asap.

28mm is a great lens. My favourite set has been 19 f2.8 V2, 28 f2.8 V2, 60 f2.8 macro, 100 f2.8 macro and 180 f2.8 apo (I allso use the 80mm Lux allot)

Have purchased a 60 f2.8, have a 90 f2 Summicron on the way. Any advice regarding purchasing a 35mm f2, a 24mm f2.8 or the 21mm Angular f4? Best versions and how to tell?

I appreciate this has probably been covered a ton of times already but a quick scan didn't throw anything up.

Also, am I right in thinking I don't require the ROM versions of anything? They seem to carry a bit of a premium.

Had a first chance to test my new Leica R lenses yesterday.....I curse you Mr Battistella for the recommendation :P its gonna be baked beans for me for the next few months....Im completely hooked on those lenses and just want to get more !!!!
The 60mm macro is probably my favourite lens now.

All these shots were taken in 6K, available light only, with the low light OLPF on:

Yep. They did their homework.

I think we have become so used to nikor and Canon glass that it's cool really to catch the look of these great lenses.
