Great shoots David!

Some great examples there as usual David!

Now I can't wait to pair my Leicas with the BT Epic Dragon that just arrived. Should be a nice upgrade over Scarlet X...

Thanks Guys!

You are going to love that Dragon and you'll have to post some more shots.

This is shot on Epic and Scarlet with a mix of Leica-R and K35 :)

Mathias, I absolutely LOVE the lens flare you have on the left of frame. How'd you guys get that? Is that a small source just leaking into shot from side of camera? Or something more elaborate going on?

Fantastic work!!

Glad you like it :)
It's primarely just a small maglite shining staght into the lens from the side. On som shots it's a 200w HMI pocket par from a bit further away. We allso put a fractured glass plate on the far left of the frame on some shots to smear/brake up the light a bit more.

Mathias,

Nice work! This is a great example of why I like the Leica R's so much, its a "sharp and soft" look at the same time. Whereas with some images things seem a bit sterile.

Really like what you did here. The flares are great but the base look is very well thought out.

Nice, Chad, how much stabilisation did you have to use in Post for this shot. I am using the same kit as you and am finding a fair amount of 'bounce' in each shot - a time-consuming problem when matching shots. Kessler are very helpful but am just interested in other user's experiences.

Very well done Mathias!! (Finally installed the Flash update needed to watch these:)

Brings an otherwise challenging format and subject matter to another level. Clean with artistic flare but without taking it too far. Very well composed and the flares/bkgrnd were an excellent touch. The Leica Rs fit in perfectly here too (found myself guessing which lens was used where:)

Right on!

Thanks for posting. Welcome to the Leica R thread!

80 lux in motion:

hey Jamon- too big to play...- I blame you for getting me started on this crazy Leica obsession...))

McCabe! try the link again, I knew it would be kinda big, but I hate compression! Funny I remember when we first met I warned you about those addictive Leicas, now you have more of them than me

Hey David
thanks for this thread
been complentating about those lenses for a while....
Now I have better idea, some beatiful pics gentleman!
Does anyone know if the 35-70 f4 is parfocal ?
Thanks
Albert

In my experience, two were and one wasn't. And the one that wasn't wouldn't back-focus wide open either, but professional re-calibration should fix both issues.

but changing the backfous would also introduce marks misalignment and possibly no infinity...
IS there any reference serial number to which is and which is not parfocal ?
thanks again

I've found some of these older Leica Rs will not back focus properly (ie no infinity focus when wide open) likely related to damage or misalignment from poor servicing at some point, rather than their serial #/batch. I've experienced this a couple times with Leica R primes and in both cases having them professionally serviced fixed the issue. So the serial number/batches may not be indicative of which are par focal. Another 35-70 from around the same period was par focal, which leads me to believe its on a lens by lens basis.
