  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

LEICA R on RED: Pictures

When I first bought Leica lenses this spring it was for the superior image quality, bang-for-buck, etc. But the lenses also come with an adoptive family of sorts. The gratitude (and inspiration!) flows from there.

Great picts Raafi. Love how the orange dress pops. 35 Cron?

And well put, these do seem to come with an adoptive family... many of whom are of child-bearing age with a propensity for delivering twins and even triplets :)

Thanks, Mark. Yeah the pics are 35 Cron. I've been noticing a little CA and vignetting wide open, but magic starts to happen just a stop or so down from there.

35-70mm 2.8 Leica R @ 2.8 6k LL OLPF, this lens has also a Macro setting. The pic of the plant is with that macro setting.

Hello,
love this thread and now I can start contributing to it!
A few samples from my dragon / leica R combo. Got the lenses from Mark a couple of months back.
Shot run and gun in a fisherman's town in the Colombian pacific coast.
Let me know what you guys think!

Hey Guys,

This thread has me officially convinced. I am dropping in on a 6-8 lens set. Just based on ages and lenses. How would recommend going about getting the most effective set or closest to matching set?

Best Regards,
Nate Balli

Started a new film today. I love this lens, it's a zoom made by Angènieux for the Leica R lineup. A rare beauty. Just special.

Angènieux 70-210, mostly all at 210, maybe 5.6 or 4 on most of these shots. Right out of RCX, one light.

David – looks like a great start to a new film!

Lewis – love your MV...Excellent work!!

And great picts as usual Dominik! The lower two are my favorites.

Hello!

I'm about to buy a set of Leica R from Van Diemen.

I assume that some of you who have been posting those beautiful images on here will have one and I was wondering if they breathe or is any downside with the Van Diemen rehousing that I should know before buying them.

Thank you very much!

And fabulous images :)

Dominik, have you tried using RCX's white balance picker tool to get more accurate skin tones? I like your shots though.

Also, I'm curious about your shooting setup. Do you use the DSMC Side Handle or a top handle or a tripod?

not really I do all the color balancing/ grading in Photoshop based on my current mood and liking really. Im not too much of a purist when it comes to neutral skintones really.
Yup always have the DSMC handle on and usually a side and or top handle as well.

Dragon - Leica R's - Mainly 19mm, 35mm Summicron, 50mm Summilux, 80mm Summilux and 180mm (also a vintage Nikon 400mm f3.5)

cheers

Your footage has a great sharpness to it. How did you achieve this look?

Here's a few from a recent thing I did. Normal Dragon 6K. Mix of 19mm V2, 35mmlux and 100mm APO
