The Noct is on the must try list (but afraid it'll then be on the must buy one too :)

Great pics Mark.

Yes please try that Noct :tongue_smilie:

These are honestly some really nice pictures.

Leica for life.

Does anyone has frames / footage of the 19MM/2.8?

Thanks for the pictures Lakis. Have to test this lens.. anyone tested V1 vs V2? (I need it anyway to have a descent wide lens for my Leica set)

here are some HD stills from my previous projects, all shot with Leica R.
Not on RED, just with some cheap consumer cameras:

Just for the record, for those of you hesitating or freaking out about the lens versions, serials, years of manufacturing, trying to find the one with the latest serial number, the one that is cosmetically the best with the less barrel scratches, the one with the best yellow focal engraving on the side... Just want to say that an average good condition Leica lens will deliver incredibly stunning results that can outmatch and crush any other lens. Good lens is forever, and these Leica babies are the Rolls Royce of optical design, they're so good you won't believe it. Even the worst looking can be awesome, as long as the eventual defects don't alter image quality.

Here's mine for example; they're not all super recent or cosmetically perfect, but the glass is clean and they didn't cost me so much:

When you think that this lens was made in 1969 and I paid about 400$ for it:

This one in 1983 and cost me around 500$:

And this one in 1976 and cost me about 350$:

These are grabs from a quick video lens test shot at 48fps.

Nice pics Paul! Proof that the lens is more important than the camera today. The ones I post now are test shots with the Dragon and the Leica APO 1.4x 560mm Focus Module

Agree 100% Lewis, nice pics, actually very nice shots! Leica lenses in the hands of someone who knows can make ordinary pics extra special!

@ Lewis, totally agree, I just tested a really old.. 50mm 2.8 (From the looks of the body, you would give it 5$), but the picture was crazy good.
I was asking about the V1 / V2 because if they are the same optical I rather buy a V1 ;) difference is about 1K in price.

Love those shots btw!

Lewis, while I don't have any 19 v1/v2 side-by-side examples to post, from my experience with both I can tell you that the v2 is optically superior, especially wide open or close to it, where its sharper, there's less Vignetting, corner smear, CA, etc. Closed down some (F4ish) the differences become much less obvious. Both are really excellent choices though!!

Mark, thanks for the vignetting, and CA remark for the 19mmV1 vs V2.
Do you know anything about vignetting of the 24mm? I have a late model 24mm and it looks like it has a slight (very slight) vignetting,(on 5K Epic-X) I would have thought this shouldn't be the case...

I shot this music video on Epic with a set of Leica R's, mainly the 35mm 1.4 and a ronin at night in San Francisco. let me know waht you guys think. All wide open at 1.4 and I absolutely love how these lenses look!!

Great point and great examples to back it up with! Even 'average' Leicas are amazing. And its fun sampling different lenses/years etc as each is unique in the way it sees the world. Getting into serial numbers, versions, etc. becomes more relevant when building a full set and if you want the colors/look to match out of camera. Also newer ones usually behave more like cine-lenses with half the drag, etc. But the character of vintage is priceless! If I could have them all I would.. ;)
