Will NOT happen - project dropped - sorry

I've had several request for our Leica - R sleeves and would like to know what you think about if we would offer these sleeves with a Canon or Nikkon mount, that you replace the Leica R-mount with. This way you can get these lens directly on to your RED Canon/Nikkon camera mount and definitely have zero play and de-clicked iris!

Hi Brian, it is a very good idea. I am wondering for the set on the photo... Is this a complete set of Leica lenses rehoused by you? If so how much is the price for it?
Thanks
Panos Bournias

are those prototypes or definitve ones?... engraved numbering as opposed to labe would be more practical
anyway, price?

Ton of Leica fanatics on this website..so don't see how you could go wrong with those.

But Brian what happened to the "Raptor" rig is it still on the drawing board ?..and if so
..will it handle like a 20lb. weight or more like a 10 lb.

Nice!!!

What is a price and what about Leica R zooms (21-35, 28-90, 35-70, 80-200, 70-180,..)?

Interested.
Mostly in de-clicking, gears and sleeves.
What you'd offer more than Leitax for a "zero play" mount?

Woud this work as a PL conversion as well?

no, the "pl" on the fotos is not the correct flange distance = requires custom mount on your camera. A "real" pl conversion can only be made by completely rehousing the lens. Our mod is not rehousing, but simply putting a housing over the lens.

Hi Brian,

Yes; would love the sleeves. Please let me know when I can get them.

Re: mounts: I would say have those be an option, as there are already some options available to us:

1. Buy the $500 Leica R mount from Cinemods (its been certified by RED for the Epic) - then we just leave the lenses alone. This option will work great for people that just use Leica
2. Buy Leitax Leica > Canon adapters and use them on a RED Canon mount. This option works great for people that will use Canon and Leica on their camera
3. Buy Allstar's A mount and Adapters. This option works great for people that will use PL, Leica, Nikon, etc. glass and don't want to swap the mount.

I could see how one of the options above would be enticing to people and may cause them to forgo getting Nikon or Canon mounts...

All that to say -- let me know when I can get the sleeves from you :)

Regards,

P

There are options to re-house to PL but this seems like a pretty good alternative, not a total alternative since rehousing is entirely different but its a good one...

I'm a bit confused here though, does this mean with the sleeves that you don't have to de-click and so forth the lenses just put the added housing on top and its good to go or does one still need to cine-mod THEN add the housing?

The PL mount conversions floating about seems to allow for closer focus on the Leica-Rs but...they lose some aperture, T1.4's turn to T1.5 or there abouts and the 2.8's turn to 3s otherwise I'd have done it, especially if it maintains the leica look!

To declick you need to remove the little metal ball that is under the lens mount - simple to do, bu then some iris begin to "creep". Once you add our sleeve, the iris creeping is gone, because the sleeves have just enough drag to compensate this.
Leica-R are f1.4/f2.8 - T stands for transmission and is calculated differently, that's why a f1.4 turns into a T1.5, but there is no light loss.

I'm working on the new version this week - should be a do-it-yourself solution.

Sleeves and (delrin?) gears, all do-it-yourself?
Brian, I sent you an email (info at actionproducts.ch) to be kept informed about availability, but the mail server failed (same thing happened few months ago)
