  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

KOMODO....

Komodo firmware updates

Komodo firmware updates

Hi does anyone know where to look for firmware updates for the Komodo? (if there are any new ones coming out, where to look)
thank you.

Nowhere public is my guess. I know there's a private group on facebook for early camera owners (separate to the RED Komodo Users group), so perhaps you need to look there.

Here's mine:

well done, JIRI is happy...

Sample grade from Resolve accenting the color difference between interior ambience and the window for a more dramatic effect and tone mapped for more dimensionality.

What ISO is this shot at? Looks kinda noisy to me.
Pardon my french. :)

According to the files' metadatas, 800.

EDIT : but RAW, by definition, is always noisier than let's say ProRes video (even if you don't have any noise reduction in-camera)

Oh? Good to know. Thanks, Aaron!

Thank you, Bastien!

Jiri, how's this? :)

I have been watching all different grades of this image and am thinking that it is a generally difficult image in some ways. The similar colour surrounding the woman is spilling over onto her, plus it is fooling our eyes. By isolating the upper body towards the wall, it looks fine to me, but looking at her knee, it looks too saturated in the shadows. This I believe is due to the couch. The thing that disturbs me the most in this image is the piece of cloth draped over the couch next to the woman. That definitively is pulling my eye away from her. Even the shelves/stairs in the background, and the bag on the right are competing with her skin tones. I would probably try to desaturate the couch a little and bring the light down on the right hand side of the image. I would also try to bring the saturation of her blue dress and jeans down. I have never seen jeans with this kind of saturation. It definitively is a demanding image that is hard to make good.

I thought the tan on tan with tan looked alright, for a quick test shot in someones lounge-room. But here's some tan on blue anyway -

Without and without the Komodo grain/noise.

I did another version, more subtle than my previous one.
Just for fun sake.

Anyone have a link to a Supported Media list ?

Cfast 2.0 :001_tongue:

...seriously, the one thing that comes closest to your desired list, was a post on @instajarred, weeks and weeks ago. I'm afraid I can't scroll back that far as I'm not a registered insta user, but I remember a few of the brands that have been tested and found as RED approved. Angelbird, SanDisk, ProGrade, blah. I wouldn't buy cards under 256GB. 512GB to 1TB perform best, according to blah. I'm sure Phil Holland could help you even more, as he's been testing different brands, too, if I remember correctly. I think there should be a seperate thread somewhere in this forum regarding media as well, but I'm too lazy to serve it to you on a silver tray, I'm sooo sorry! :ihih:
...no, really...joke aside...maybe some other time.

edit:
Ah, I've seen you've been asking about your Lexars already in the right thread. Not sure if they were on the top 5 or 6 brands list.

What Thomas said above. I only was able to test cards I had here or nearby, I'm sure RED will have a more official list at the end of the day than whatever I can test, perhaps by the time the black bodies ship. There's just too many brands and even variants that I can't realistically do tests on everything short of people sending cards to me and I'm kinda done doing media tests for now as that was like week 1 or 2 for me once my metallic cubic lizardy orange child came into my life.

Most in the world seems to be using Angelbird and ProGrade 256GB and up. You'll want the newer ProGrade cards as there was some sort of version thing somebody uncovered online. I'm on Angelbird cards. RED offers branded Angelbird cards now as well.

Things to avoid for sure, 64GB cards and likely some 128GB cards.

And I did another one... Just to try something different (I promise I'll stop ^^)

...to avoid 64/128GB cards. (not enough bandwidth?..if I remember correctly)
