  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

As mentioned above it's its own thing.

What's exciting is that if you look at the dimensions of the sensor horizontally, that 27mm width in 6K scales nicely to 36mm width in 8K :D

I'd expect that in the future, given the RF mount is designed for full frame, you'll see an upgraded 8K FF Komodo at a higher cost with higher processing power to handle the extra resolution. The only real unknown is if they can push the global shutter across that FF size to get to 8K 48p, or at least windows via 2.4:1.

I'm wondering when and how the timelapse mode will be implemented. If it is as good as on DSMC2 cameras I'm in!
Love the wide functionality withing the timelapse section in other Reds.
 
Time lapse/ intervals would be very welcome. Especially if the new sensor would allow for > 1s exposure times! Not sure if the design allows for it, but I’m hoping...
 
Fingers crossed. Maximum shutter speed for frame averaging in TL mode on DSMC2 cameras is 16 seconds, right?

Does anyone know how the black production Komodos will be sold? Will they just appear one day in the store and you buy a in stock item or will there be a pre order and you send in a deposit ?

Lights can roll and flicker on global shutter cameras(been shooting CCD ENG cams since the 90's and have an F55, too). It's all dependent on the refresh rate of the lights and the frame/shutter rate on the camera.

Erik's side of the interview was shot with a DSMC2 HELIUM, and Naida's was a trusty SCARLET-X.

I would bet that those who have Hydrogen phones will be given first dibs on buying the black model and then open to public.. I hope.. maybe... well see i guess.
