  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

KOMODO....

I'm late to the Komodo party... Are orders for the preproduction closed? What's the status on getting any sort of order in? Forgive me if these are silly questions, haha.

I have doubts about that MQ : according to the Redcode Data Rates calculator thing, HQ would correspond to approx. 3:1 and then MQ to 4:1 (I said APPROXIMATELY) and to me it's weird as I would imagine if you put only two or three options you would go for something like 3:1, 6:1 and 12:1. Am I missing something ? (I'm FINE with it nonetheless)

LQ is coming from what I've been told. So three sizes:

- Waffle Cone
- Cup
- Sugar Cone

What if I prefer my ice cream being scoped straight onto my hand? In all seriousness, thanks for the clarification. I couldn't see the possibility of there only being two options for R3D, especially with those two options being quite similar in overall storage needed. Those three R3D options put this customer at ease.

It has always been that way on RED cameras (and in fact it is a matter of using RAW. I believe that if you look at other cameras that shoots RAW, lowering the resolution = crop)
 
I have a Focus7 SmallHD HDMI.... Will a Cable HDMI to SDI work with Komodo??? Or that is not possible?

Trying to figure out my workflow so I am ready with Accessories by the time KOMODO is in my hands :)

Unfortunately, it will require an SDI to HDMI converter. Those require their own power source and have bulk as well. AJA, BlackMagic and others maker them. There are going to be some different monitoring options popping up for Komodo and there are data pins which could provide HDMI or other output. Probably best to sit tight and see how things evolve. Don’t be too anxious to spend money on solutions, especially kludge solutions, for a camera that isn’t released yet.

Having an idea is no crime, so...to top out all the fancy color variations we already had before:

I heard the next batch of pre-pre-release Komodos will be covered with genuine komodo skin.
Hence, they will be released in an even more limited number. :spam:

...according to Jarred's chat with Rand, the color will change. Possibly red...or blue?....or...?

Yeah I checked my email 30min after he sent so I replied a little late. We’ll see. Ultimately the color is my last concern but damn I want a chance to break in the latest color on a dirt track hanging off a Razr.
