This might not be at all possible. And if it was, the art would more than likely have to be monochrome(No Color) and Laser etched/engraved on the body before any internal electronic components were installed. So an expensive custom job.

I would consult with Red about the hazards of doing that before I even considered something that will probably void your warranty and damage your camera. That is if it's something other than maybe adding some type of small sticker away from any heat venting or something.

No don't need to email me again, everyone that emailed me the first time I will blast out an email before round 2 so you all get another crack at it.


As for the stormtroopers, its kind of impossible to say. Our factory just started going again last week when California opened the gates again, and yesterday California had its record amount of new infections. We are setting up a backup line in Mexico to build Komodos as well, which a few months ago was a good move but now yesterday, they also had their record amount of new cases and their infection graph looks like it is marching on a steady pace to the moon. So I imagine both Governments will probably make some more changes soon... assuming health is the most important factor , so we don't know if either line in either country will be shut down again, modified, or if they just will keep opening up.

Until then.. we can keep hand making these one offs at a slow but steady pace... even if it's just one at a time. We have the parts to do so... I'm painting and our proper powdercoater is painting and we have enough assembly ninjas to keep going even if we need to go back to 10 people max in the building at any given time.

Awesome. I am glad you are still chugging away. Fingers crossed I can be in that next batch of limited colors. Thank you for pushing through this madness and making something special for us.

hold the phone.. i just looked at some older versions you did.. and you nailed it.

If I were a bettin’ man I’d say look at Lana Wachowski’s Komodo for the round two color. Out of the five colors on hers I can recall seeing we can eliminate orange. So I’m thinking we are looking at either purple, that gold/yellow/light orange looking color, that hot highlighter red/pink, or the bright lime green Bayhem variation.

If we cross reference those colors with Rand’s mockups, we have good odds guessing.

I may have seriously overthought this.

We're doing colors again? Allow me to shamelessly reshare my mockups from last year. Looking back, I kinda nailed Lana's color scheme, albeit a bit less bright.

While I love the bright color ideas (especially that Kodak yellow one), I would love to see Komodo available in some more muted, more military colors:

OD Green:

And then of course to go with my Ti Hydrogen...

Yeah, whoever has kids, loot your daughter's sticker book and you have your unique Komodo. :devil:
Fairies, Unicorns, Hello Kitties and so on, would make Komodo look like a toy, too, IMO, you won't need a custom colored one anymore.
One could also claim that a fluorescent / luminescent color is absolutely essential for Komodo, in order not to lose this tiny camera in the (apparent) muddle of a film set.

Heheheh.. a nice try to change the subject.
L-Mount and RF-Mount have the same FFD. In this case you would have to change the lens mount. Honestly, I didn't do a lot of research in this regard, so I don't know if there's a company offering this already, or if it is even possible to do so (mount diameter, electronics, etc.). If you want to use the lens (L/SL or RF) on both systems, it might get costly for sure. In other words, it's not worth it, IMO.

Probably just wait until black, but I love the gunmetal or the lighter gray. Those are pretty sweet.
