  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

KOMODO....

Yeah, it seems we have to reach the mandatory number of 500 pages before we get some news. So here's my contribution to it. Next...
 
I'm glad RED is taking their time to test out all the kinks, etc... but I'm tired of announcements months/years before cameras are in actual peoples hands (I'm not talking about the elite or an insider). I've been interested in the Komodo since the onset, but everyday there comes more and more options and more and more specs leaps by the competition. Hope there's a surprise and Komodo is getting upgraded to 8K at 60fps now... Too many competitors are leapfrogging before the camera is even released. RED used to be the king of tech pushing everyone else forward but I'm afraid RED is now behind. Would love to be surprised ;-)

Hope RED hired you for the team. This design and layout is brilliant and so user friendly.

I don't think so . I just bought a 1DX MK III and it shoots 6K raw full frame . Only thing is, it's frigging impossible to actually work with. While my Dragon 6K plays like butter real time . Red code is so far ahead of everything else, that higher resolution without it isn't really worth the trouble.

Redcode is amazing, but most end users don't care... neither do the studios or those at home watching the content. I've been shooting Monstro VV for over a year and love it, but clients love Arri shooting Prores... so....
 
Speaking to Jarred a few times in the last couple weeks has been revealing of the efforts being done by himself and the rest of the RED team at the moment.

But to simply put an image in your head. Jarred, the President of RED Digital Cinema, late at night has been powder coating Komodo camera bodies.

A lot of hard work and passionate people working on that little blocky lizard from home and abroad at every level.

Something tells me the silence from RED in the last ~week is going to bode well for us with a pretty big announcement of stormtroopers starting to ship. Feels like once they break the silence it's gonna be great news for all of us.

Agreed. Sony, I think, is taking a leaf from Apple's book. With some exceptions, Apple won't announce anything until the product is ready to ship. Sometimes they are late, and they have to announce a product by a certain month of the year, but overall I prefer this strategy.
 
Interesting footage.
Kinda bummed by the Instagram resolution I would have loved to watch it like on Vimeo in 4K or something. But still, thanks Jarred.
