Are there any small/light options for an AC adapter on the X that’s more akin to either the Komodo OG’s small brick, or say a MacBook Pro AC adapter?

The adapter it ships with is 135W and gigantic. Are all those watts really necessary if the DC battery is providing 45W? Can the OG AC adapter work?

Ultimately I’m trying to downsize and fit something into an already crowded pelican so size really does matter.

I’m interested in the answer to this question, too!

Haven't found any solutions, sadly. It could be as simple as just finding or ordering a custom RED DC to USB-C cable and giving it a try with, say, a 65W USB-C PD charger. But I'm a little hesitant to possibly fry my camera? Seems like the risks associated with getting it wrong with a power supply as fairly.....serious.

Updates: contacted RED who pretty straight away killed any ideas I might have by saying that use of an unapproved power supply or product would potentially fry my camera and void the warranty. He also pointed me towards the pin-out diagram on the connector though which is really a mixed signal, or a dare, if you think about it. Hah.

To close the loop on this...

Spoke to folks at Mutiny and there's too much amperage draw for power bricks and cables to not melt or run into issues. Also the KX lacks the appropriate circuitry to request the PD protocol for power from the USBC PD brick, so it wouldn't get an ample amount of juice. There was also a third reason, the details of which evade me, but it had a solid risk of frying your camera. Soooooooo.... big ol OEM charger it is (booooo).

Also frustrated about this. Why would they release such a brick after having a nice small one before?

It is the other way around. The AC Adapters for all RED cameras are large. The original Komodo didn't require a lot of power and allowed for the smaller adapter. It's the only camera they've made ever with an adapter that small.

They should've followed this path :)
