  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Komodo shipping?

It may/probably all depends on exactly what you ordered(i.e: body only vs. a basic kit vs. a premium kit, etc.). If you ordered just a body and they don't have "just bodies" in, they can't ship them. But if all of their orders for this specific kit were already fulfilled and they received more(or received enough to fulfill the back orders of it and make new sales), then they can sale and deliver the packaged/bundled kits immediately. They can't sale what they don't have.

Now, if you have been waiting for that particular kit and your backorder wasn't fulfilled and someone just ordered and received it(jumping the line), then you have a legitimate reason to be mad.

I ordered the Body only from BH Feb 03. that order is now saying mid to late August. I tried my luck with the starter pack the past weekend when it was "in stock" and was able to get order confirmation and estimated shipping date. It said it would be here in 3 days and looks like they charged my card.. HOWEVER it was a glitch and they didnt have enough units for the orders they accepted. The item was then marked as backordered in my order status. I checked out at quarter til 9 and I still didnt make it. That backorder now says early July according to Customer Service. Every time I call BH they give me a different date.

I agree that this whole thing is bogus. waiting 4 months was already too long now it's up to 6 or 7 months.
 
Tyler, I'm curious where you're hearing mid to late August? I ordered body only from B&H on Feb 04, and the only info I see is "Coming Soon." I tried to reach out to support a week ago and they wouldn't give me any info.

I just spoke with B&H today. The man I spoke with told me that the next shipment is due early august, and looking at my position in line he couldn’t say whether mine would ship, but it would be close. For reference, my order is only a couple months old, so if you ordered early February it’s likely yours will ship with that august shipment if his information is accurate. Although at this point I doubt the accuracy of ANY information from B&H on this matter.

I call B&H every week to check, although i hear something different each time, I have also been taking notes to reference to customer service so they are aware of what they have been telling me. The last 2 times I called, they said mid August but they still are getting little to no information from RED.

Today I received a shipping notification and my card was charged for the starter pack. Seems like those are coming in way faster so I would recommend trying that option over the body only. Also will be canceling my body only order so that will jump someone else up in line hopefully. Will report back when i actually receive it to make sure it wasn't another glitch.

edited: So took me a while to get back here. Update - I did in fact receive my Starter Kit for the Komodo on the 24th. Ended up cancelling my February preorder. They are definitely shipping out faster than the body only.

Popularity. Demand. Global core component drought. Pandemic. California just mediumly opened up June 15 2021 as well. There are lenses not shipping at the moment because they can't get the bolts imported and in some cases certain things not made fast enough to provide some perspective. Pretty wild times.

But they are clearly pushing them out, don't know the process of dealer allocation, but the shop up the street from me has a bunch on order because their first several orders/pre-orders all sold. Don't know if there's over 10,000 on the market yet, but I've seen up to high 8,000s in person a couple months back.

To that point, this is clearly the most popular and quickly produced RED cam to date, which I'm sure has caused it's own unique hurdles.
 
Just as a data point, I submitted an order with RED directly back in May. The RED rep emailed me earlier today and let me know my allocation is quickly approaching on 7/19/21.

This was for the body only.
 
RED has been quiet with pretty much all information, but this gives me hope! I'm still waiting for my body only from a reseller.
 
Finally received my Komodo two days ago. Not had much time with it yet, but first shots look amazing. Worth the very long wait (over here in the UK). Ordered November 30th 2020, so just over 7 months wait.

I just got mine from a local reseller in New Zealand, took 7 months to get it, but it meets all expectations for sure, so be patience

Ordered body only April 4th from B&H.

So far, radio silence, though reading above the poster that has his May order from RED due to ship gives me hope.

Does anyone know the present B&H shipping/backorder situation?
 
Still no good news from Germany. Teltec wasn't able to provide any information about availability, a shipping date or anything else. The only information they gave me today is that they also did not recieve any unit in the past 1 1/2 months.

Did Red completely stop shipping Komodos to EU? Is there anyone who has some more info about EU Shippments?

I forgot to update my status.

I've ordered on January 2nd, and I've received my two Komodos on July 19th, from TRM in France. 7months+
August should see a lot of order fulfilled I'm told.

I'm glad I ordered all the accessories before as they were ready on their first day.
