  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Komodo shipping?

I did! Specifically the "Evolution" mount which is much beefier and has a stainless flange. Made in EU. It's killer! Rock solid build with it's proprietary support bracket to the 8Sinn cage. I took a page from all the DIY automotive work I've done over the years (have to save money for new camera gear somehow!) and slowly cross-rotated the four screws to get a nice even and firm seat on the bracket and lens mount. Thing is Not. Going. Anywhere. :)

When I'm ready to snarf up a PL mount, I'll check out the 8Sinn mount.

I've been eyeing the Revolva, but the reality is that my main priority for the Baby Dragon is to be able to stuff it in my backpack along with a pile of survival and climbing gear, not for sticking giant 842 pound lenses on it. (That's what the Epic-W is for.)

So... I ordered one of Canon's portable 800 birdography lenses instead. :)

I expect that a good birdography lens will also be a good lens for "hunting" bears and elk as well.

Congratulations Rakesh! That must have been such a good feeling. We are waiting on paperwork for dual EU-USA... nothing like 2020 to really drive home the importance of keeping multiple avenues of opportunity open!

You have no idea. I've been wanting to get out of this film reject region for a long time, and had to jump through a slew of hoops to pull it off, like getting an updated birth certificate and finding a Canadian citizen living in the US who's known me for two years to sign my paperwork and passport photos, and so on.

But oddly during the pandemic I've had an EASIER time finding IT work than usual. Dull, mindless, soul-sucking work mostly, but it's paying for my Komodo.

Congratulations :)

I'm expecting my CF card today, possibly also my battery charger though that might be arriving a day or two later, but still awaiting the batteries and body. And Breakthrough Photography adapter... sigh.

My passport arriving was a good enough reason to at last pop open the bottle of limited edition whiskey from Heritage that I bought almost two years ago... it's still amazing :)

My Komodo arrived yesterday morning. So it literally took Fedex only about 30 hrs to ship the camera from California to my office in Switzerland. Im impressed :) Looking forward to my next shoot. I hope you‘ll get your body soon!

Nice!

It's also good to hear that bodies are shipping. If Red's guesstimate holds, mine should be shipping on Monday or thereabouts. Exciting. :)

Someone needs to make a magsafe holder for the new iPhones that could screw onto the Komodos 1/4” threads. Connect via Wi-Fi and quickly pop on/off your phone as a monitor.

I have been to and shot in FedEx's world hub in Memphis, TN. It is an absolutely incredible logistical machine. The sheer amount of packages that go through there on any given day and the speed in which they land the planes, unload them, sort the packages and re-load them in such a small window of time is kind of mind bending.

One other thing I will say though, after seeing the operation first hand: pack your shipment WELL.

I still love the fact that the founder proposed the idea of FedEx as part of a college project and got a pretty lousy grade because the prof didn't think that it was feasible...

At least it's better than Elbonian Shipping (tm) ;)

Ordered 10-15-2020 and got it yesterday. It took so long but definitely worth it.

Ordered mine 21st October, when ordered the estimated delivery time was 4-6 weeks.

After nearly 8weeks of vague ideas when it will be shipped I was finally told a shipping date which was 11 November. I still have no shipping info, so it's still not been sent.

I am being patient cos I know COVID and the fire near the factory has delayed things, but 8 weeks is testing my patients a little. Hopefully I won't have to wait much longer.

I ordered on October 20th, called in for an update a couple weeks ago and was told estimated shipping date was December 10th. Still no shipping confirmation. Fingers crossed that it ships soon, so I can still get it before Christmas.

11th December**

Forgive me if this has already been asked and answered, but does anyone know if there are any hardware changes in this new line of Komodos?

Guys can we still use hydrogen discount? Anybody knows how many days left for that promo??? and where should we send email for order?

That's a great question. I had been in contact with my rep through Dec. 4th. I emailed him the info he was asking for and I haven't heard back since. I've tried calling and emailing him, along with calling Red HQ, both just go to voicemail and no one has returned my vm's. I'm wondering if they've shut down due to California's stay at home order from last Monday the 7th?

More delay. Ordered 21st October with 4-6 weeks estimate. Then was given 11th December. Only now been updated to the 28th December to be shipped.

Seems like COVID is delaying everything.
