  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Komodo shipping?

Does anyone have a read on what B&H's current lead times are? I ordered the camera only on 11/30 with the expectation not to receive until at least late January. Seems like they might be getting them out faster now though?

Just saw it reported that CA is locking down(stay at home orders) again beginning tonight.
 
Spoke with B&H today. Sales rep told me they have around 50 on back order and are expected to receive 20 in the next December shipment. Another shipment of 20 likely delivering in January. I ordered on 12/2.

True, but part of the governor's order specifies that film production can continue to take place along with essential services (which has not been taken well by other small businesses). I would think although RED is a manufacturing company they'd have a decent case for staying open as they supply not only film industry but all kinds of media.

I know that I will continue to work shooting interiors, although this is my off season so it won't be much.
 
Congrats! Direct from Red? Or through a reseller?

At least it's progress. My charger and CF card are still en route, my body hasn't shipped yet and neither have my batteries, but my passport arrived. It's progress. :)
 
Hey Everyone. First time RED owner after many years with Blackmagic products, and RED rentals.

We ordered our two units on 10/14 from Omega Broadcast in Austin, TX and they arrived today 12/8. We also received our Tilta cage kits but not the canon variable ND adapters yet.

I for one, want to say welcome to the RED club Jose. I'm glad you got your cameras and hope you really like them. I haven't decided on a cage kit yet, so let me know how you like your Tilta setup.

I got my 8Sinn gift box today. I have to say, it's very, very well designed and built for the price point they're at. Give them some serious consideration. Will post pics and a mini review when we've got some daylight. :)

Yes ordered directly from RED.
Fedex says it should already arrive tomorrow. (I‘m in europe)

I'm already making plans to relocate and looking for work in Canada... and I have a friend who is also into filmmaking (taught filmmaking at Capilano until she got laid off) who is going to help me with my quarantine plan.

Red gave me the same estimate a few days ago when I asked, so hopefully they haven't been disrupted and that guesstimate will hold!

I'm expecting my CF card today, possibly also my battery charger though that might be arriving a day or two later, but still awaiting the batteries and body. And Breakthrough Photography adapter... sigh.

My passport arriving was a good enough reason to at last pop open the bottle of limited edition whiskey from Heritage that I bought almost two years ago... it's still amazing :)
 
Just received a confirmation for mine too. (About it still being set to ship on December 14th) So stoked! Sounds like you have exciting times ahead! I wish you the best of luck with all your plans.
 
Exciting times indeed! I even made reservations for a moving truck already (planning ahead ;) ).

I also decided to take a chance on one of the new 800mm f/11 bird lenses for RF so that I can attempt to get some shots of trumpeter swans and bald eagles and Wrangell Island snow geese before I bounce across the border to chase other birds. :)

I did! Specifically the "Evolution" mount which is much beefier and has a stainless flange. Made in EU. It's killer! Rock solid build with it's proprietary support bracket to the 8Sinn cage. I took a page from all the DIY automotive work I've done over the years (have to save money for new camera gear somehow!) and slowly cross-rotated the four screws to get a nice even and firm seat on the bracket and lens mount. Thing is Not. Going. Anywhere. :)


Congratulations Rakesh! That must have been such a good feeling. We are waiting on paperwork for dual EU-USA... nothing like 2020 to really drive home the importance of keeping multiple avenues of opportunity open!
