Hey,

I'm trying to get a reliable connection for the live link in the RED Control App, but try as I might I can't get the link adaptor to work reliably. Using iPhone on current IOS with KOMODO on latest firmware.

I follow the steps turn on hotspot, plug in lightning, trust computer but no camera shows up in the app. Cellular signal good.

The camera IP assignment is set to auto. If I try to enter a manual one it always returns 'enter a valid IP', even just using the default.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Brice

I'm in the same boat. I have a ticket with Red. I'm onto my second Link Adapter purchase. I eventually had to return my Komodo to B&H. I get my new Komodo tomorrow. If you choose to fill in the IP data manually you have to enter IP, Netmask and Gateway. I did that and I still didn't get any results. I never even got the "Trust this computer" message. Did you try: In Red Control Wi Fi menu (Enter IP address) as opposed to Re-Scan? I found a website that explained that this step is how he achieved the link. He was using a Hydrogen so I'm not sure if this applies to Apple IOS. If you get it to work please let me know. I'm desperate to try this feature. I don't mind the Ad Hoc wifi option but the dropped signal drives me nuts. I have to reboot my phone to get it back. I even setup a few custom keys to toggle live stream etc... I tried out each band in 5ghz and 40 to be the best response.

A reply I just posted in a similar thread ... pasted here too in case it helps.

Hello I just tried again here with latest iOS system, latest camera FW (beta) and all works as expected.

Make sure your iPhone has a cellular network able to share its connection using Personal Hotspot (some carrier may not allow this).
Enable Personal Hotspot on phone (allow Others to Join)
Plug USB-C -> Lightning cable in KOMODO LINK adapter and iPhone, you should see the 'Trust this computer ?' alert every time you re-plug.
Make sure the camera IP assignment is set to 'Automatic' in MENU > COMMUNICATION > CONNECTIONS > KOMODO Link Adapter.
The IP you should be getting is 172.20.10.2 once the Trust dialog is accepted. If it shows 169.254.x.x it will not work.
The app will discover the camera immediately, no need to enter Manual IP address or anything.

If you do NOT see the Trust message, please try this on your iPhone (it will reset some privacy settings but not the whole device) :
  1. Go to Settings, then tap General.
  2. Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone (at the bottom)
  3. Tap Reset, then tap Reset Location & Privacy.
Hope this helps...

Thank you. I'm about to try this again using your suggestion. I never got the Trust message so I will try the reset.

OK... I just received my replacement Komodo. I plugged it in an immediately got connected. No reset required. The lag is very minimal compared to AdHoc wifi. Thank you for your help. Brice, I hope a iPhone reset works for you.

Not saying this was the issue, but it is worth noting that it’s best to not have the camera powered when actually installing the Komodo Link to the camera.

My understanding is if the camera is powered the contacts on the Komodo and/or the Komodo Link can get fried.

Again, don’t know if that was the case here but putting out there as a warning for others.

I made sure the Komodo was off when I first installed it. I was thinking the same thing.

So I'm not sure if it was this specific 1.7.4beta update or not, but previously my Komodo Link was not working on my Komodo ST, and now with this firmware it works perfectly with my iPhone 14 Pro! If anyone else was having issues with Komodo link might be worth trying out. Works perfectly now and was super easy to get phone connected up. Red was going to have me send my camera in to take a look at this but looks like it may have just been a software thing all along.

FWIW; Got my Komodo a month ago, Ad-Hoc and Komodo Link were working just fine but Wi-Fi couldn't connect. Then after shooting for a couple of hours last week, turned the camera off, 20 minutes later turned it back on. Nada, no Ad-Hoc to the iPhone or iPad Pro and Link failed. New Komodo from RED on the way. Wireless communication in a camera is tricky in the best of times I think, but my Bolt (have a RED Epic-Weapon as well) system is dependable.
