Is this a common issue? Mercifully, it's fine while recording, but it really obviously skips frames or jumps whenever I pan, tilt, or dolly-in.

I'm on 6K 17:9 23.976fps recording to Angelbird CFast cards.

Thanks.

Stephen

Have you upgraded your firmware? This was a bug that was addressed as far as I know.

I have the same skipping or stuttering in playback on our camera. Latest firmware. Hopefully a fix is coming.

Okay! So it isn't just me! That's refreshing. Thanks for letting me know, Mr. Terendy!

I know Red is working on this, and luckily when I import my clips into FCP and render them out they seem to be fine.

If "Latest firmware" means 1.5.5, then it should include the playback fix, but with 1.5.3, it's not "latest".

Yeah, except I'm not shooting at high frame rates. I'm only shooting at 23.976fps, so I'm very doubtful if the latest firmware will fix my issue.

Stephen

If the fix description says it fixes the issue for high frame rates, I'd assume that it fixes it for low framerates even more so. At least I haven't seen any hiccups anymore with 1.5.5 , and that's with either 25 or 30 fps mostly.
Have you actually tried 1.5.5 already and it still doesn't work or is based on the assumption that it might not fix it?

It was an assumption that since it only mentioned high frame rates, it wouldn't fix my issue. Otherwise, they should've just said, "fixes the issue for all frame rates."

Well, there we have it gentlemen!

Thanks, John.

Kansas City area.

I wish someone in the LA area experiencing this could drop off their camera at Red.

That would be nice. I live in KC!

My real issue now is trying to figure out what new computer to buy to edit with. I was thinking a PC until the new M1 Pro and Max MacBook Pros were released. Now, I'm not so sure!

This is a pretty shitty problem to be honest. Playing back footage for clients and having to explain to clients why the footage is skipping is not that fun. Updated to the latest firmware that supposedly fixed it, but it made zero difference.
