  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Komodo EXT Connector Pin Diagram

I can totally make that, sent you a PM.

And, that's what I was thinking----"I already have cables that go to the SYNC port, so why not make the Komodo work with the SYNC plug?" I just really hate the 00B size Lemo.

Could I join in on that action?

It looks like the top port works the same way, and the GPI and ground contacts are the two big ones on either side? So we should be able to start/stop recording by shorting them? (I'm afraid to check 😂)

Mark Pederson bribed me with a very expensive bottle of scotch to give you all this a bit early.. so everyone say thank you Mark.

Could somebody confirm it wich pint 6 to GND start to record without add any resistor in line??

Is 5v enough for a remote focus gearhead? If there was a proper cable for it?

I dont know if its recomended but atleast in theory you could drive a tilta noctilus nano on the aux port. It will not be as strong as if it had more voltage and Amps but should as I understand work on 5v usb power.

So, Tilta could do a dedicated cable for Komodo then :)

Yes anyone with a soldering iron a bit of guts and the right connectors could. But not sure how many Amps the motor is pulling and what happens if it asks for more than 500mA...

Anyone figured out if it's possible to make a cable for the EXT port that splits out to a 3.5mm to take timecode in from a Tentacle *and* a SmallHD 5-pin to connect to their monitors for control?

The Wooden Camera B-Box does essentially this via the connectors it offers, so certainly possible.

Yeah I just want it as a cable rather than a box so I'm not occupying that right hand battery slot

With the PIN assignments being known and available, I'm sure any competent cable maker, like Trew/Remote Audio or Markertek, can make a custom cable for you in any configuration.

EXT connectors and pin 6

Hi folks,

am looking for some guidance. I'm wanting to make some custom hardware for my Komodo and have been looking at the EXT port on the back side. It looks like a 9-pin ODU SX0L0X-P09MCC0-0001 as indicated here, and in Jarred's initial post. But I'm finding the ODU product code a little confusing. Is this an example of a compatible plug?

From other posts, it sounds like the LEMO 0b.309 is also compatible, will this one work?

On a similar note, a question was asked previously about pin 6. Can someone elaborate on this pin. If this is short to ground, does it initiate recording?

May have some followup questions. Cheers,

WickedP (WP).

The “X” you sub for whatever your application requires.

A LEMO FGG.0B.309.CLADXX does fit.

If you short 6 to 9, you will toggle record, it works exactly how you think. I believe the Komodo docs say it’s 3.3v trigger compatible, but almost all of the triggers I see are just short to common.

Thanks Alex.

One I missed, the GPO line (pin 3) - is that 3.3v sent when the shutter is 'open' (i.e. on frame capture), or does it flow uninterrupted during recording?

Thanks for the link Jason, I hadn't realised they had that. Might be handy for prototyping.

That link makes a mention that pins 2+3 aren't currently supported, but there's no mention of this in the extension port guide. Does anyone know the present status of these pins? Do they work!?
