Like this?P.S.
IMO a pre NAB announcement of a mini Pro-Res or DNxHD 2k-4k module and pricing would be a clever move.
If a module like this is imminent why wait to announce it at NAB ?
Like many Red User have mentioned (rightly or wrongly) the lack of this option is seen as
a perceived weakness in the Red workflow and and gives some producers a reason not to
opt for Red when shooting. Sony has addressed this market with their recoding options,
so why wait any longer ?
My 2 Cents
In reality Marks, Mini - DNxHD/ Pro Res Module would makes the Epic/Scarlet the ideal solution for people who need
quick turnaround formats for broadcast, post houses or difficult producers.

Hasn't the Epic to Dragon upgrade been confirmed at $6K?
...I think it has been mentioned that Dragon will now cost more.
I think something like this is coming. It's been hinted in a forum response to someone that said RED wouldn't go to the trouble of making MINI-MAGs if they were only for 1 product.
Hi Chris ! Yea the Meizler module is great, but it's 13k and almost the same price as a F5, plus it adds a lot size wise to the Epic/Scarlet.
The F5/55's option is a lot simpler and more compact.

The problem is a module like Mark's would require an ASIC (to convert the raw data sent through the brain to ProRes/DNxHD), which requires a heatsink, which requires a fan, all of which draws substantial power.
In other words, it wouldn't be cheap or small... Unless they used the HDMI port like the +1, as it is already decoded, and so would not require an ASIC... but it'd be limited to 1080p/60 (or is it 30).
