Using the Diamond bros camera.

It doesn't have anamorphic yet.....

:(

But.... but... but.......i have a whole set of Anamorphics on set tomorrow.....

Other than that, its pretty nifty. Black shading now, just hooked up the Canon mount, and REDmote.

Will keep you posted in a bit....

EDIT 1:

Just fired it up. Put on a Canon 85mm F1.8 EF, it has nice contrast so the blacks will be black.

2min Later.....

Whoah..........

EDIT 2:

Highlight tonality is off the charts. It is grainy in the shadows though. But likely user error. Need to re-learn this camera.

EDIT 3:

Ok so, shoot this puppy at 800.... Spotless with insane highlight retention.

The light in the shot is a clamp light with a 250w e27 adapted arri globe in it. Thats the ONLY source of light in the room other than the Xmas lights in the back, and a TV wich you can just see the screen. Thats where the blue glow in the back is coming from. All that shadow detail lit from a plasma TV, velvety upper 6 stops, and you can still see the interior of the main source. Magical.

Update: Post shoot.

Ok So, here my take. The Dragon when you fire it up looks awesome. You shoot it, and you say, hey look at that, its nice and clean, the highlights look good, its creamy! Shoot shoot shoot... and it just feels right. Not overwhelmingly so, but it feels good. Then you fire up any other camera and say... is it broken? You don't feel the improvements till you go backward. RG3 on MX feels like REDGamma on R1MX; Super Crunchy.

It feels image wise like an F65 with more pop, just 1/3rd the size and 1/2 the weight. The Compression is MUCH better (the most impressive improvement actually), the color is better, the tonality is better, EVERYTHING is better every aspect of the image. 6K is so grainless, it looks almost fake, like looking out a window. Think Sony F3 at -6dB. I found my self shooting at ISO 800, 400 and 250 for a majority of the shoot.

We were shooting a music video involving tesla coils and electric science experiment. It all looked like CG it was so pristine. Even Tom Wong 600 DIT AKA the image Nazi, said it looked good. He says that about nothing.

Jarred, you asked when im getting mine? As Soon as humanly possible.

Nice...

Nice

Sweet. Are you planning on shooting any tests of any sort?

Timur.. hurry up and get your Dragon :)

Super!

Any improvement in the frequency with which you have to black shade vs the old sensor?

Anyway, thanks for taking time away from playing with Dragon to report back to us!

Also it takes a fraction of the time to Black Shade vs Epic-MX. so good.
