  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

June Update

Raven & Scarlet-W I/O Packages no longer available?

Huh, thats odd. Could be as simple as a mistake after updating the site. Probably best to just wait and see if it will be in this weeks update. Im sure if it's intentional there will be something said about it.

Edit:

Just noticed if you go into the Raven Brain Deposit, you can add a package to your total price. Seems they've just changed the layout.

P.S.S

Looks like Scarlet-W has a new Handheld Package available o.0

There's also now a separate ACCESSORY PACKAGES option in the top menu on the website.

I saw those options as well but it does indeed seem that the I/O Packages for both cameras will no longer be an option.

For those who have ordered, if you look at your orders tab, you will notice that one of the items has been canceled. the majority of the items have their names but there are two items that have no name. Im guessing one of these are the v-lock and it just hasnt been updated to the site yet?

This was going to be part of Jarred's July update, but quick overview of today's update...

As I have mentioned many times on REDUSER, we were going to move away from "bundles". Meaning, packages that shipped complete with (sometimes) a bundled discount. Everybody and their mother asked "can we switch out (x) for (y)?" in those.... Thus, overwhelming feedback was people who much prefer sacrificing a bundled discount for ability to modify the package contents as well as take delivery of items as they become available versus waiting until all contents were available.

So, now, we focus on packages that put together recommended accessories. Once you add to cart, you can modify the quantities and/or items in the cart to give you the flexibility to dial in the exact accessories you want.

Consider packages more a starting point. We think a lot of people will buy as-is, but it is a great starting point to start tailoring a set of accessories directly to your shooting needs.

Of course, all the existing orders for the "bundle" ones will be honored.

We also simplified the top nav, FWIW....

So how do we do to update our order if we had a Scarlet W package ? Do we have to build a cart with the recommanded accessories ?

Brent did say that the bundle orders would be honored, so unless you want to change something, there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

You're right sorry. I read too quickly.

I'm doing the maths right now, and for initial buyers with the case included, you better stay with the original bundle.
Cheaper, and with more goods.

I'd rather have my package, and sell what I don't need after.

I wonder when that July update is going to roll out hehe

Bummer, I kind of liked starting with a base package and building out from there, but I know you can't please everyone.

waiting jarred news

I don't know what it is about other camera's but to me that looks what i would describe as video. I tend to find most of the sony camera's have that look too.

i don't know what it is about the red but i feel that it has a filmic look along with the Arri cameras. Using both i prefer red's colour space. I myself have ordered the Scarlet W and i can't wait to get it.

The first camera that i felt i was getting filmic results with was the Red One everyone around me seemed to be using the C300 or the Sony F5 but i felt the Red one even being an older camera at the time was a cut above them all in terms of image quality all the films shot on the Red One still stand up.

Hope that helps Hector.

Hi Doug,
Thanks for clarifying this.
I wish Jarred or Brent could clarify this. I'm sure if they're going to do some kind of upgrade for MX, they can include the scarlet. In the end it's the same sensor.
My doubt is if i should sell now, or wait for this MX announcement? If Scarlet is not included on this special MX upgrade, I would rather sell now.

Thanks guys.

Here's the Scarlet trade-in path history:

4/2013 - 7/2015 (Dragon Upgrade)

Scarlet MX -[ $9,500]- Epic MX [or] Scarlet Dragon -[ $9,500]- Epic Dragon (upgrade n/a for Scarlet Dragon)

4/2015 - 7/2017* (Weapon Upgrade)

DETAILS

Basically, you have never been able to jump sensors and body in an upgrade, but Jarred says* he is opening the door for Epic MX owners. Maybe there will be something for Scarlet MX in the future, but two years seems long enough to either go Epic, go Dragon, or go Home and shoot with your Scarlet MX.

*everything changes

you reckon it will take two years?

UPDATE: Got a PM asking for clarification. We went away from "bundles" for new camera packages in below. We still have (at least for now) the package bundles if you are upgrading from EPIC/SCARLET DRAGON to WEAPON, correct. And, yes, if that changes, we will honor existing orders there as well...
