  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Joseph Hutson - "CHECKMATE" - Los Angeles

I think the RED One is a Harley.

The EPIC is more like a DUCATI. :)

Cars.

R1 = hummer
EPIC = batmobile

Maybe I'll name my EPIC batmobile instead of bonjour.

Mister Hutson, are you so big or is the EPIC-M so small. Your just a happy man enjoying his new camera.

For the most part of the day's (and night) 8 hour shoot, I was running around the Santa Monica Pier alone. I kept thinking to myself "What other piece of gear on the planet could get me anywhere near as good of a picture as what I am shooting...let alone the ability to have such a small form factor that I can be carrying a spare battery like the RED Brick and a set of 5 lenses and ND filters all by myself?

Incredible, I say...

Hello Joseph, it's a wonderful thing to own such a great camera. But what do you intend to use it for? What is your intended career path? I don't think I've read you state what that is.

-Cinematographer?
-DIT?
-Digital camera technician?

You should evaluate what your intended goal is, and how you plan to get there and seek people with experience in that area for advice on how to get there.
Ownership of an EPIC-M can aid you a lot in any of these paths for certain, especially right now. Being a middle class bloke myself, I would be really judicious on how such a purchase would leverage my own career goals. But that's just my situation.

How many GB, euh TerraBytes are on your drives at home/work from the EPIC-M ?

Thanks Jason.

I wish to be a Director of Photography for feature films one day. In the meantime, I am working as a Camera Operator and doing my best to watch and learn from others whom I surround myself with.

Ask anyone who's seen me in person. I'd say I'm not big. A whole 145lb... Hehe

NO, not big, tall yes, but not too tall, but a little Skinny yes... That is why I was trying to feed you as many Steaks as I could, so to put some meat in you, but no luck, he he.

Fact is, the "EPIC" can have such a small FORM factor, it amazes every time we pick it up, doesn't?

From tonight's shoot in Downtown LA...

Thanks to Mike Hedge for lending me a set of 5 Canon Lenses and for introducing me to Mac
Thanks to Miguel de Olaso, "Macgregor" for driving his Porsche
Thanks to Karim Belkasemi for his assistance

Oh boy. The MacGregor Porsche. Makes a nice roaring sound, doesn't it?

Good heavens, Joseph... you get your Epic, next thing you're hanging around with crazy foreigners. It's all downhill from now. Mike Hedge, what did you do? :P

Anyway... congrats! And if Mac tries to steal your Epic and drive off with it in his car, I know where his secret lair is - so hit me up when that happens, OK?

Your personal style reminds me of Philip Bloom's a lot.

Will you be posting more vids?

Thanks! Yes, that was NAB 2010...when I also got to meet the RED Team and got scared to death when I was escorted by security to see Jim. Haha!

Zac Crosby did a phenomenal job in working with me during that long week.

I'm dying to put the EPIC on my Steadicam but I am waiting until I take delivery of the SideHandle and REDvolts.
