  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Joseph Hutson - "CHECKMATE" - Los Angeles

Thanks... BTW, do you think the Epic-M owners will become in the future, the late Red One owners, meaning, that in order of purchase, you'll get priority to future upgrades, such as Dragon, 617, 645...? That would certainly add a feature to the M.

Not a whole lot, but it does come with a 2 year warranty instead of 1...

To get a 2 year warranty on an Epic-X just buy it with a credit card that doubles the manufacturers warranty. Doing that saved me $2,500 when a DVCPro deck broke 1 year and 11 months after I bought it. Visa sent the reimbursement check pretty fast. Real easy to make a claim.

I think M customers will have a bit of an advantage for some things, but I would like to think that the front of the line will always be those who jumped on the RED One train in the early days. And going forward, I think that there will be continued benefits to those who hold onto their original RED One cameras. It seems that Jarred and Jim have already hinted pretty strongly at that.

Of course, that's just the opinion coming from this one proud owner of both RED One and EPIC-M cameras... Stage-2 on the way...

Very True... it is the payoff for all those sleepless nights, and is why we work so hard to do what we do... and not just for the big guys, but the little guys really do sometimes mean more to us...

This certainly is the truth. I can't thank RED enough for their generosity, open-mindedness, and countless doors they have helped open!

Have to agree with you - it's super convenient using the Epic with Canon lenses & screw on filters - the pictures speak for themselves - They aren't clinical lenses at all - but in a good way.

Congrats dude!

They judge you for being too young, they judge you for being too old....I say, let em' judge the cinephotography!
That's all that really counts!!!

Congrats Joseph!

I love the nights shots. I have to say the Porsche is my favorite so far. The back drop of the overpass with the headlights in the back lighting the overpass is a pretty awesome image. Is that a happy accident or a well composed shot? Either way, nice shot! What was your ISO? HDRx?

HDRx: 2 Stops for a bit to regain some of the headlamps

You know, I gotta love Joseph.

Not because he is young.

Not because he has Epic-M and I don't.

Because minutes after he got his shiny new toy, he's out there shooting stuff for his fellow REDUsers to enjoy :).

David

Agreed. MOAR owners should be sharing because it amps us all up. I plan to do my fair share of visual payback once X363 lands in my grubby, impatient hands...

Thanks David.

It's my pleasure doing this. I know that I myself want to see what's going on on the bleeding edge when it comes to how others are taking imagery with the latest RED products. Now that I find myself lucky to test this new stuff out, I feel like I owe it to the community to share as much as possible...

For the most part of the day's (and night) 8 hour shoot, I was running around the Santa Monica Pier alone. I kept thinking to myself "What other piece of gear on the planet could get me anywhere near as good of a picture as what I am shooting...let alone the ability to have such a small form factor that I can be carrying a spare battery like the RED Brick and a set of 5 lenses and ND filters all by myself?

Incredible, I say...
