  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Joseph Hutson - "CHECKMATE" - Los Angeles

don't listen to the haters, man. thats just a sign that you have arrived.

whats the difference if he is 20 or 60??? who cares where he got the money???? QUOTE]

"Our greatest fear is that we are not inadequate... our greatest fear is that we are powerful beyond all means"

The reason why this is the case is because of the jealousy of others and its sad. People always try to compare themselves to others to feel better about their lives... and when someone is 5 years older then another who has something they want but can't afford they instantly think negatively about how they got it.

Sad

Awesome!! Specially stoked about thisone. Can't wait to watch some of your upcomming stuff Joseph.

Congrats Joseph. I have this realy weird sence of pride for our comunity at the moment and yet I've never spoken to Joseph in my life and I'm only a couple years older. make sre you keep us up to date as I'd love to see what you do next.

Joseph I told you what I think about you quite few times... you know it... :-) just keep rocking this way.. I'd love to work with you one day! :001_smile:

Congrats Joseph!

I know only a tiny bit of how hard you have worked to get that camera, and I couldn't be happier even if I had my own Epic M in hand.

Well ... OK only if I had my own Epic in hand. ;)

I look forward to seeing your work sir ... you now have the "no excuses" camera ... not that you are one for excuses.

I definitely know what its like to fight the age stigma. Good for you, my friend. Next time I'm in LA, I'll shoot you a PM. Do a dual shoot or somethin' ;)

Enjoy your Epic,

Kegan

play nice kids... just did a clean up. lets keep on topic :)

Wow. There's just so much to say.

Most important of all is a huge THANK YOU to:

JAMES & RUBY, my parents (married for 35 years, next month), understand me and my crazy ideas/dreams and seek to learn them out. My mom probably knows more about the differences between EPIC-X Stage 1, 2, 3, and 4 more than the average REDuser. She even knows the ins and outs of what sets the M apart from the X. :)

JIM, thanks for the leadership skills you have brought to the Cinephotography world (Traditionally known as Cinema/Photography)

JARRED, where do I start? Your generosity seems to know no limits. On top of that, you're one of the most fun guys to be around. You take some of the sickest photos ever (such an artist with the lights). You took time out of the middle of your day to just take a picture for a little guy like me (I'm honored). You lending me the Canon mount... speechless

TED, thanks for being a great role model. The times I spend with you aren't just because I love seeing what RED is up to (of course you know I do). However, I find that listening to your "speeches" enable me to better communicate RED's philosophy, workflow, and overall vibe of what the core of RED is. You were the first one from RED to "take me under the wings", I guess you could say. You showed me just how special RED is in that y'all are not only a company who sells a product...but indeed you are individuals who thrive off of building relationships with the people who "get" RED.

THE BOMB SQUAD:
BRENT, you are continually answering people's emails like mine with a quick response. That, in and of itself is impressive. But doing that at midnight takes it beyond just the next level.
MADELINE, thanks for putting up with me and being so kind. I placed my order on a Tuesday coming out of a holiday weekend and, with the help of MICHAEL, you had the camera in my hands the next day...just in time for my first job with it.
HALEY, you staying at RED after hours to allow time for me to pick something up at the last minute. You went beyond the call of duty and you make RED proud (even when they might not find out about those "extras" you do).

GRAEME & DEANAN, it was a pleasure seeing you guys this afternoon. Y'all always bring a smile to my face. Y'all are so kind and funny. Beyond that, my mind is boggled by the vast knowledge that you and your team are doing with all of the code-creation/writing. It took about a 1/2 second's glance at your screen, Graeme, to realize yet again how blessed each REDuser is to have some of the most brilliant people creating not only the backend of the cameras, but free tools like "REDCINE-X Professional". Staying up til "7am" and getting up 2 hours later is an inspiration to make me give my all and try and make the best pictures possible.

ROB & STUART, your labors for the different software never ceases to amaze me either. I'm so glad there are people like you guys who have the wits to create the products I use daily and the ones I have yet the privelege of using. :)

ENTIRE RED TEAM, there are just so many of you people who are constantly working behind the scenes and don't post enough on REDuser for us to always be thinking about you. NATE and JOHN are just a couple of people of people that come to mind right off. JOEL and MANNY always are there to greet me with a smile and a firm handshake at RED Studios - Hollywood. You all are such an integral part to the success of RED as a whole.

KETCH, I'd have to say that your generosity is kinda like Jarred's (which I'm sure you can easily relate to). You were a catalyst in me ultimately buying an EPIC-M. You were instrumental in bringing me to the Los Angeles area where I not only have begun to strengthen the relationships I already had, but also the many more new people I have begun working with as well. This has brought the assurance that getting an EPIC was actually doable.

People may wonder "How did he get an EPIC?". One thing is for sure. I didn't do it alone. Yes, true, I've been doing video production for 5 years. Yes, true, I got my first job when I was 12 (5 days a week) and held that job til I was almost 20. However, no matter the amount of effort you put towards something, you will only be as strong as the people you are surrounded by.

Congrats Joseph!!

I love it that you got one of these badboys! You will have sooooo much fun, and I hope I will too once I get my "X".... :) I wish I was your age again, having the possibilities to use the cream of the crop and being the team player you seem to be! Being passionate delivers! ;)
