  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Joseph Hutson - "CHECKMATE" - Los Angeles

Marketing? he can get epic but i bet he's going to use only cheap canon glass on it..

Wrong.

First lens that went on Joseph's M was a Ruby Wide, then a RED 50-150mm. Yes he has Canon lenses, but so do I. So what?

I worked everyday with him for a week. I was there when he unboxed it, first day of my shoot. His input was invaluable.

Forget what you *think* you know. Joseph is very talented. He's hard working, creative and knows Epic inside out. I'm looking for any opportunity to work with him again.

Keep your mouth shut if you don't know the guy.

Joseph, I'll bet you are one happy camper right about now!

It is kind of funny to see the number one scarlet fan wait so long for that camera to ship that he ended up getting an Epic instead :p

Congrats to Joseph!

Don't Hate, Congratulate!

Congrats Joseph : )

Congratulations Joseph! You have great skill a bright future in front of you.....and now you have your Epic. No excuses (not that you are the type to use them). Can't wait for the invite to your first premier.

Many of you know Joseph much better than I do on this board. But, for those who don't ...what a motivated hard-working and class-act this guy is! I don't care if he had to be a PA to make that money or mow lawns -- he deserves it. Be happy for him, don't hate 'checkmate'. You will see a lot in the future from him.

I bet he still gets that Scarlet too! :)

...I hope RED is ready for the wave of people who will buy Scarlet. I'm ready to buy a couple fixed Scarlets myself.

Congrats to Joseph!

Exactly my feelings ... I'm now wondering how much longer we will have to wait for Scarlet, now that Joseph ponied up for an EPIC-M!

That being said, Joseph has worked hard, travelled the world and been a loyal friend to a lot of people who I'm sure worked just as hard to help him. And if you think of it, the cost of an EPIC-M kit is only about a quarter the cost of a college degree and I'm sure it will get him a lot further in his chosen profession.

I actually have a potentially interesting question for him that some might have wondered about ...

Why buy the Canon Mount + Canon Glass instead of one RED PL lens like the 17-50? I would think the price difference is relatively low and you could have started shooting right away instead of relying on the Canon mount's shipping schedule. It would drive me mad to have the camera, lens and no mount to go shooting with!

D

what are talking about Luis? i dont own Epic-M but i can access it for a 4months :) i can buy epic now if i sell my cattle (not kidding) buying, renting and owning a camera easy part..important thing is what you can do with that
whatever...

If the importance is what you can do with it.
bet your cattle.

Im just sayin, hes plenty busy shooting with it all over LA and much much more.

Joseph has had his camera for only a week and has already hustled a handful of jobs with it... enough so to pay off a healthy little chunk of his investment already.

The guy is ambitious, hard working and 100x more of a gentleman than I will ever be. It is guys like Joseph that everyone needs to keep an eye on....

Agreed, Red cameras are not hard to finance/pay for if you're resourceful and hustle -- Joseph is lots of both.

Also, he's a great guy who has helped many in the community tirelessly, definitely very gentlemanly behavior. We will be hearing from him a lot I'm sure ....

I'm very happy for you Joseph, having only met you once (At NAB This Year) your professionalism, friendliness and high level of knowledge was immediately apparent. Being a young professional myself at 22, I applaud you on your recent step forward and wish you the best of luck in the future with this amazing new tool!
