"When I opened my first RED ONE package, it was like a sense memory. I hadn't felt that same thrill of absolute possibility since I was a boy, opening my first super 8 camera."

"When it came to added photography of Super 8, the RED ONE, without question, saved my ass." JJ.

BTW... JJ has dibs on the very 1st EPIC-X.

Super 8 was shot on film for period look... but 37 shots were done on the RED ONE MX at the last minute and slipped in. Apparently, no one can tell which scenes they were. :-)

Holy cow... I had no idea any of Super 8 was shot on Red!

I love the way you can tweak color & picture texture on RED rushes to get a vintage look. Can't wait to put my hands on my own REDcam.

Amazing! The thing I actually enjoyed most about that movie was that vintage "Close Encounters" look. In fact, earlier this evening I was having a conversation with a friend about whether or not one could replicate the look of 70's and early 80's Spielberg movies (Jaws, Close Encounters, Raiders) on Red. I guess this is the answer!

They will all be engraved on my tombstone... :-)

I'm pretty sure he had the budget to stretch to an Epic-M, tight arse ;)

We caught JJ between projects... no hurry to get an EPIC-M.

Jim
Except that the line for Epic-X started well over a year ago. ;-)

Wonder if this is a foreshadowing about the Star Trek sequel? Now that would be major cool. RED really is beginning to dominate the industry in a seriously crazy way.

JJ bought a RED ONE a LONG time ago. He was the 1st to ask for an EPIC (he may have had inside info that it was coming) and has been waiting just like everyone else. We can only hope that he will consider EPIC for the next Star Trek.

So cool. I was just talking to my wife about Super 8 again the other day. I don't know if I will bring this tidbit of info up to her, or she'll put ME in a straight jacket.

(I might talk about RED too much. It's to the point that she knows what I'm talking about when I say, "Hey, Jim said..." or "Jarred showed us some new pics..." like I know you guys personally or something) :)

I really enjoy JJ's work! That's awesome to hear he used some RED ONE in Super 8. I hope he decides to shoot EPIC for the next Star Trek, would be an incredible combination!

That is amazing ! Nothing can stop Red now !

Somehow this wouldn't feel like REDuser unless we had a handful of people getting upset that JJ Abrams was "cutting in line"... Come on, peoples! Ha!

Great job, Jim and co. Proud of y'all...
