  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Jim Cameron buys...

A batch of 50 of the darned things. That's amazing. That is a very strong statement of trust.

Congratulations! :001_cool:

Still. 50... if *I* have 50 of something, anything, one or more of them would get used in spectacularly dangerous ways. They might not survive. :eek6:

he is james cameron...fucking terminator, aliens, avatar cameron...let him shoot with it...i am curious to see what comes out of his brain while using 100 fps hdrx 5k footage .)

What's coming out of his brain is probably this:
http://www.eoshd.com/content/602-Ca...right-60p-and-3D-are-how-our-eyes-see-reality

3D works better at 60p & 48p... Now, what digital cameras will shoot 5k @ 60p? Hmmmm...

I find this move to a faster playback frame rate ironic. It feels like we digital shooters have spent our whole careers trying to work with cameras that will mimic film and 24p was a big part of that... Won't 60p make our filmic video will look like video? Anyways, things are going to change yet again, as always ;)

wow...only a couple weeks ago i was reading that he was touting the ALEXA-M as a winner, i imagine the ARRI marketing department was priming itself for a good 'ol advertising bonanza...reckon you could here a fly fart in their office right now!:)

I only have one complaint...... Where is Mark Toia's Epic-M. Parts are running out if all these big hollywood honchos keep taking all the cameras how are we lowly redusers going to live through Mark Toia. We will be picketting in the streets really soon in front of Red studios if Mark is not tended too. Can you hook a brotha up? 50 Epic-M's....................

While I'm certainly glad for Jim and the RED Team for this big win, personally, I'd much rather hear about Jane Campion buying two Epics than James Cameron buying 50.

Stephen

Because:

A) Jane Campion is known for testing the limits of technology and film making with every fim she does?

B) More people see a Jane Campion film than a James Cameron film

C) Jane Campion influences pop culture on a massive scale on a regular basis

D) None of the above

Cameron's assistants musta gotten mixed up when they were told "Get me 50 M's". The assistants went to Arri and said "Do you have any M's for sale? Arri said "Yup. They'll be ready close to September, and you will need a cable tethered to a huge recording deck."

Arri had great news. "Yay! Cameron is using our M's!"

Cameron finds out there has been some miscommunication. "These M'n'M's are confusing! I've always liked RED M'n'M's more than the blue ones! I want 50 RED ones...but not RED Ones. I want 50 M's. EPIC-M's, that is!"

OH, the CONFUSION!

LOL. Almost plausible Joseph ;)

HOLY... is there tax on those bad boys?!

just kidding, thats awesome

The RED roster continues to add names and reads like the who's who of the uppermost echelon of filmmaking.

Congrats to the entire RED team for pulling that off!

Well Cameron did make some of the best contemporary Sci fi in the 80s and early 90s, one can only hope he finds his way back there. Let's hope now that's he's got the oft told corporate/political morality story out of the way he can start telling truly interesting stories (even within the Avatar storyworld) the hope of a film aimed at adults would be nice too!

In the words of his own Hudson "game over man, game over"!!

Absolutely fantastic!!!!

Amazing news that we already expected to happen during NAB event.

You should not forget that Jim Cameron is a big friend and also a sort of important business partner (Weta Digital did vfx for Avatar) with Peter Jackson.

All that means Avatar 2 could be shot approximately 60% with Epic-M (all of landscape shots and more other...) and 40% with Alexa-M (most of indoor shots and portraits).

After all RED could finally start to fix Epic-S specs that will have new RED Dragon sensor with the highest dynamic range and finally go back to its own RED ROOTS with a price tag between $12.000 to $15.000 for Epic-S.

Already it was expected that RED could sell about 15.000 Epic-S cameras in the next two-three years (double than RED ONE sales).

Absolutely no grounds for this speculation...
