  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Very, very, very excited to see Gio Scope coming back. Easily the most helpful exposure QC tool we've had to date.
 
I'm more interested in the auto-focus enhancements. Good facial recognition would be wonderful.

I'm still waiting for the DSMC2 AF to get out of Beta. ;)

Jokes aside. Its odd that they have not got it together yet, as Michael / fool control got it going in his red control app already. As he pretty much works for red one can think, how difficult could it be to implement it in camera? Seams easier than have it going on a osx app feed with a laggy image. But I guess not.

As I see it. It will be extreemly crucial to all camera manufacturer to get AI focus functionality into their eco systems. Moon smart focus, The DJI Lidar thingy and other systems are surfacing and no matter what feature AC´s say. AF will be used more and more. I seen it on a few web drama series, where they go from "no we don't have any use for such" to a few weeks in where they use the moon smart setup on pretty much each and every shot.

Red should get on that bandwagon quickly, preferably by something that already works and make it into a integrated module.
 
The RED Control app uses Apple's implementation of face detection, Mikael didn't have to develop this part, just has to feed the OS with pictures and conveniently gets the face's locations back for further AF processing. Implementing all of this in camera takes a bit more, unfortunately.
 
Will the new RED Control app with face detection work with older iPads?

Is there more info on gio scope except for the 2 minutes video released years ago? Is Gio Scope like the EL System? It would be great if there was more information about it.
