  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Jamming two Dragons without external timecode

I think the BNC cable / sync port is only a TC in and not selectable in/out so not sure it is possible to jam 2 cameras without external recorder or TCbox...

Maybe it changed recently but I remember that was the case in early EPIC days...

you do need an external TC source, as epic/dragon do not have a timecode output on the brain

not a perfect, but easy/cheap/close way to jam them, is to use the audio out of your iphone with the movie slate app.

Works quite well.... just be sure to jam all cameras without closing the app in between

This works extremely well. In fact, I did it yesterday, but did it with an audio timecode file I had created to use on a music video at the end of last year. If anyone would like that file I would be happy to post it. 3:26 of timecode starting at 00:00:00

Denecke SB-T is what you want then split the bnc feeds by buying 3D modified cables from RFS in London UK.

would be so much easier and cheaper if there was a TC in!

The Denecke App sounds a great cheap makeshift solution as does Matthew's.

Can someone elaborate on this Deneck TC app?

I just spent $160 USD on a 4pin to 5pin Lemo for a SD 788T and my Scarlet.

No Lockit and were getting drifts up to ten seconds :(

Does the Denecke actually feed timecode from iPhone or just the audio and then use Audio for Sync in NLE?

It send TC using audio output jack on the iphone but read as real TC on the camera side.

TC accuracy is reliable until you close the app.
So you start the app then go from camera to camera + into your audio recorder TC IN to feed everyone the same TC (clock time only with the Denecke free app).

But turning camera off/on will make it drift because it doesn't have a continuous TC Clock.
So it works for multicam powered setup for example but will not fully replace a TC box that you jam in the morning and keep on camera at all time.

Thanks Mikael for that :)

Whats your thoughts on Tentacle Sync?

Wished you had something like that with your foolcontrol ;)
