Jarred has said that Dragon is going to be around for a while. I wonder if its possible to shoot Pro Res on Dragon through firmware upgrade before Weapon is released. If that happened right now....I bet Dragons would be flying off the shelf before NAB, and all Dragon rentals would spike making the upgrade cost way easier on the Dragon Camera owner community.

just sayin.

If possible, limited data streams perhaps. But a hardware upgrade is probably essential to support the new data streams

Nope. Not possible actually due to a variety of reasons. All hardware related.

This is one of the things that Weapon is all about.

Yeah ... but only ONE of the things Weapon is all about. There's much, much WAY cooler shit than ProRes in the Weapon program :)

I like the sound of Weapon program. I've been thinking along the lines of RED's Secret Weapon, but Weapon Program has an Area 51 vibe :)

I know how ASICS work...but,

Its kinda hard to believe that this 25k camputer cant make Pro Res, just get an MIT kid to write a script or something ;-)

I have never used a Prores recorder on my Red but have wondered....are any of these recorders able to record frame-accurate prores that can be matched back to the R3D files after editing? I've heard that they aren't frame-accurate.

They all work great now. The problem for me I manhandle cameras and hate having a box flopping around that needs to be taken care of and powered and downloaded and has proprietary media. I want to shoot not play with electronics
