  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is Fincher shooting 'Gone Girl' on Dragon?

Can I up the ante?
Dragons with RED Motion Mounts and "Meizler Modules". So much more in the way of groundbreaking techniques as well.
I have probably said too much. Have I mentioned how beautiful the Midwest is this time of year?

Gah. Jelly :) You are having way too much fun out there in the wild!

Well yea Sean, of course... : )

Fincher is probably maxing out the motion mount quite often, and shooting regular mounts for some sick long shot night exteriors

Go on, spill the beans Sean, Jarred won't bite and Jim is busy watching a 4k movie on an undisclosed beach somewhere... Do it man! Tell us, hurry! Quick, before Jarred logs back on!

Meizler is so key... I can't wait to see how crammed and packed down small it is released. I hope for modularity in Meizler, and how the dimensions manage to prepare for that longterm; until we get NO cables at all, because eventually all we'll need is a +1 (with all of Meizler in it)

Spill the beanz Sean!!

cheers!

It was kind of hard to forgive you for not been at Red Studios for my shoot... ;(

But Knowing were you have been and with whom you have been with, and what you have been playing with... Well, I guess I forgive you buddy... ;)

mmmmm, Emily Ratajkowski :)

What monitors are they using for the director?

Looks like a smaller monitor for the AC pulling focus with a remote FF?

Looks to me like the 17" & 25" Sony OLED TriMaster EL monitors that they are using. Those things are amazing.

Rumor mill from House of Cards is Fincher doesn't let ACs use LCDs to pull.

Robert, I can't say with 100% confidence that it is true, but I was told from a DIT I trust that Fincher showed up on set and had the ACs (maryland crew, not his normal crew) remove the onboard LCDs being used for focus assist and that they were to pull by numbers only.

Hmmm….I recall watching a House of Cards behind the scene video somewhere and Fincher was mentioning how…"you have the AC sitting in front of a 20" monitor pulling focus…"

Who knows.

That is not correct. Each 1st AC has a preston and 17"-20" monitor specifically for them to pull focus off of. Kind of a pain in the ass to move around but they are on roller stands. All the cameras have wireless video to the monitors. They have Mezlers or whatever they are on them, but I think they maily just use them for the wireless video. I don't think they talked to whichever version of prestons they were using. That show is shot almost wide open all the time, so focus is a bitch. Every camera I ever operated had an onboard monitor.
