Hi, Please somebody clear this for me. so the only one right now to control a Weapon camera settings with an iPhone is paying a FOOLCONTROL license?
for some reason I was under the impression there was a free app somewhere.
Thanks
Andrey

Fool control is not made by Red, but it's seriously worth it.

red does have its own free app "Red Command" but its far less than Fool Control the 150 is worth the $ 10x over if you ask me

Sure wish they's release an android version!

Mikael has said in the past that it is not likely, but also not completely off the table. I'd just use an old iPhone to foolcontrol.

iPod touch and foolcontrol. That's all you need.

I use FOOLCONTROL on almost every shoot, I've just used it with my RED W in a Scubabag, worked great!

I also use the RS232 version for Helicopter and Arm Car work...I find it essential and worth every $€$€.

Mikael also gets back to queries or issues really fast too, 2 hours is the longest he's taken to get back to me but there was an 9 hour time difference and he was on it at 04:00 his time!

I'm not affiliated with FOOLCONTROL but I'm pretty sure it's a separate company and not owned by RED, Mikael is out there like us and on his own.

its worth it, do it, IMO.

Stu

absolute love fool control...

But where is this "Red Command"?

I don't see it on the Apple app store or via google searches

Foolcontrol is definitely worth every penny. It may be a lot to spend on an app upfront... but if you need to control the camera with something other than the touch screen then Foolcontol is the answer, and you will thank yourself everyday. I personally think Foolcontrol's layout/UI is way easier to use then the RED touch screen, IMO.

Daniel, I couldn't find it until I searched the App store for: "RED DIGITAL CINEMA"

When I did that REDcommand popped up as number 2 or 3 on the list.

It may also help that they spell it as one word: REDcommand

Thanks guys !
FYI there is a 5$ version of the app called foolcontrol-r... It is limited to start stop and last clip playback only but still let's you browse the whole UI and monitor histogram and all your camera settings.

It also works unrestricted with cameras from some partner rental houses... (mostly french based for now)

Does foolcontrol prompt you to upgrade when a new version is available?
Thanks

Pat

iOS can auto update the app for you... App will warn you when using a firmware newer than the latest known one by the app's release and suggest to look for an upgrade.

Could add a warning when new version is available if you think it is useful. Latest wifi release for iOS is 2.02

Mikael, do you have any tips on how to map the channels in order to improve connectability, there's a lot of issues with the app dropping connection and it's a problem while using focus. Works "ok" when on a wifi, but there are still so much interference, even while standing right next to the camera.

Will try to make a post soon with all the available options and wifi best practice for ad hoc, infrastructure, wired and a new unannounced option in foolcontrol 2.x iOS

There is a good mac app called 'wifi scanner' (on mac app store) that let's you visualize various surrounding networks channels and strength in order to choose the least crowded one...

love foolcontrol. worth it.. the license follows you from phone to phone with no issues.. Also, its cool to say to people you have a $150 app and then show them... only problem with it is that it ties up my iphone, which usually doubles as my BTS camera, script reader and walkie talkie, etc...
