  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Introducing Epic-W 8K

Yes 8K 2K proress is 120fps

I can see how you read the spec sheet to get this information, unfortunately, the frame rates are determined by sensor refresh rate so the 120fps for prores is for a windows sensor.

Likely the same max FPS for HD format as for full frame since the same number of vertical pixels are read/reset. In some cases you can get a slightly lower compression ratio with a skinnier frame, but if you want higher FPS you will need to go to 2:1 or 2.4:1 AR.

Cheers - #19

Thanks for the reply. I'll probably need to go Weapon Helium. I'm not excited about having to crop field of view for higher fps like 48 and 60 on Epic-W, which are super common for me to need. Looking forward to someone posting compression tests and comparisons between Weapon Mg and Helium Weapon or Epic W. I'm a little cautious about the larger file sizes/data rates necessary for 8k and wonder if higher compression would be pixel peeped and look similar to lower compression on Mg.

Is there a form that we need to fill out for the finance option? If so, can it be posted here? Maybe it'll alleviate some load from the sales people?

I think they are recommending you contact your Heather. '-)

Confirmed. No ProRes 120FPS for 8K FOV. I didn't check 5K, but 4K FOV with 2K ProRes allows 120FPS.
