UPDATE: Sony lenses are SOLD, Zeiss 25mm CP.2 is still available.

Hi guys,

I've got a 4-lens set of PL primes (25mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm) that I'm looking to send to a new home.

The set's comprised of three T/2.0 Sony PL Primes (35mm, 50mm, 85mm), and a Brand-New Zeiss 25mm CP.2.

The Sony lenses were only ever pulled out of the box once for a couple of hours testing inside the studio, so they're in mint condition, just like new. Their construction is mostly plastic but optically I've got to say they're really quite impressive, we found they were only a hair off the performance of our equivalent Zeiss CP.2s, it's a surprisingly close match - they also have a slightly cool, punchy look to them - so they can be intercut with the Zeisses almost seamlessly.

The Zeiss 25mm is brand-spanking-new and unused, and was only just pulled out of its box for the first time this afternoon to take the photos for this post.

So I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a cleaner set than these.

I'm looking for $8199 (or nearest offer) plus shipping for the four lenses.

Edit:
The 3 Sony lenses are also now up on eBay:

Ok thanks. I'm sure you have done your homework but I have been seeing a few sets of these go for around 4K and just under on eBay. I agree they are pretty decent optics. But with the recent announcement of the updated full Sony prime set (lots of people will be waiting for these... possibly including me!).

Anyways, I would definitely look at trying to get rid of these sooner rather than later. Hate to see these lose even more value!

Let me know if you get desperate to sell & best of luck on the sale :)

I'm in no great rush, well-used sets of these are mostly going for $4.5k, and these are in mint condition.

These Sony lenses are playing in a very different field to the new ones, I suspect you'll be lucky to get a single one of the new lenses for much less than the three of these combined - with their metal construction, they'll be targeting the CP.2's market/price-point.

These are what they are - the cheapest way into PL-glass with a good focus-throw (with the added benefit of very decent optical performance). They're not CP.2s, but they're a damn sight nicer to use than stills glass.

Yeah, I'm playing around with a set on an F3 as we speak. I see what the fuss is about in regards to the housing feeling a little cheap...but after shooting with Canon lenses for so long it doesn't bother me one bit! And like you said, the added benefit of using Cine glass far outweighs the "housing issue" in my opinion!

How does the size of the Sony primes compare with the CP2?

If you could mail me directly on James@tee2.tk regarding this lens set, that would be great

How does the size of the Sony primes compare with the CP2?

The weight of the lenses are as follows:
Sony 35mm T2.0 = 1.46kg
Sony 50mm T2.0 = 1.25kg
Sony 85mm T2.0 = 1.24kg

Which compares to about 0.9-1kg for each of the CP.2s

Here's how they stack up size-wise (note, the lenses in these pics are rentals, not the actual lenses for sale):
