  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Interchangable OLPFs

I wish there would be a little plastic-lit available that one can place into the front opening of the exchange-able OLPF.

Why?
Because I fear that one day the screw driver slips and scratches the glass. (It also helps to keep the dust out.)

It could even stay there for the time outside of the camera. Like a lens cap.

Edit: I took from Phil an image and placed an 3D sketch in it./edit

Wow!…..That cap with some captive screws would make the change over quick, easy, and safe. Great idea, Dr.

Thanks a lot everyone, very nice of you. :o)
If RED likes to produce it, please feel free to take the idea, I'm happy to give it away. But one condition: I like to beta test, hehe.

Perhaps a little Rubber "O" ring inside to have some stability in it, or anything that puts some tension in it to hold it.

Edit: Perhaps just completely out of rubber, see images/edit

Yes, to keep screws there, great idea.

Genius! When I got mine back last week this was one of my big concerns. This would totally solve the issue.

Thanks, Matthew J.

Perhaps the rubber version is not that expensive... but RED has shown to be pretty fast with getting individual solutions ;o)

Nice work - and a no brainer to include. 3D print to check fit and ergonomics then rapid prototype tooling. EZ breezy

You are all too nice, thank you!

If that works and helps to prevent some accidents, I'm really happy.

:o)

(I'm torn between rubber/silicon or something in acrylic -- tinted acrylic, so if in the stress on set someone left it on, the color tint will "ring some bells".)

Dragon finally made it home, after 2 weeks for the upgrade. Hopefully the sidewinder tool and LLO olpf will ship out soon as well.

I was giving this whole idea of "renters MAY want to prevent rentees from changing OLPFs in the field" issue some thought. Rather than tamper tape, couldn't a simple software solution be implemented?

Specifically you HAVE to change the OLPF in the camera's software once you physically change it. Could you give the option of a PIN number allowing that OLPF designation to be changed? So for example if I want my camera going out on a rental to be STH only, I don't give the rentee the PIN. If I do think it's okay, I can give them the PIN, and that would allow them to change the camera over.

I think it's all case by case, I know some guys who would handle the OLPF changeover easily. And yet some "DPs" and "ACs" I wouldn't trust to pull my finger, nonetheless trying to pull focus.

This piece apparently looks different than my piece (I also have the interchangeable OLPF system installed). It seems to be a different material. Mine is smooth.

Anyone else?

This is a quick pic of mine, which shows the smooth material inside the OLPF Interchangeable system.

I guess I need to upgrade it?
