  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Interchangable OLPFs

Curious, Is a early dragon with olpf1, that was later swapped to olpf2 counted to the category that needs to be sent in?

Pretty sure everyone who currently has the SKIN TONE-HIGHLIGHT OPLF does not HAVE to send in. Actually, I am sure of it. That calibration was already in place by then.

Thanks Brent, two days -- certainly safer, but also 2-3 hours extra on the HYW. ;o) Perhaps the DIY is a good alternative. We will see what works best by then.

Either way, this is again (!) one of those great developments of the RED team, thank you. :o)

Simple. Drop off at RSH. We get it to Irvine as part of our daily run. We modify then send back to RSH. No 405 or 5 freeway needed.

There's going to be a new firmware with the new OLPF calibrations I imagine? Or is there something that automatically detects it?

Definitely interested in the IR options....

I can see a market for a 1/4 Soft + Low-Con OLPF to appease the "Alexa look" crowd. ;)

Low Con yes, 1/4 Soft is pretty strong. Maybe an 1/8th for slight haliation.

This is incredibly simple and elegant - and affordable.

RED just gave me 5 new cameras for a thousand bucks...

now they just need to invent the RED BUBBLE portable clean room.

Mind. blown.

Is there a time limit on the free swap?... like in years?

Watch the product detail page video. End shows you how you manually swap between OLPFs. If you have monochrome camera, you will have monochrome OLPF choices. If color, only color choices.

If you send in your camera to be modified to swappable, we will set your settings from "fixed" to "swappable" so you can choose. If you never change from "fixed", you will still have this UI screen in firmware, but won't be able to change your OLPF type.

If you do the swap modification on your own, we will have to send you a special, camera specific (via PIN) build to change your camera from "fixed" to "swappable" on your own.

We actually did invent our own clean pods here at our production floor. Clean rooms are so yesterday.

All good things come to an end. But should be available at no charge for quite awhile.

Cool. Someday I'll want a lot of the different flavors when the dust settles... but for now, v2 suits my needs just fine.

Heh. Okay, one super duper rad sauce question.

In REDcine-X Pro can we have a visible Metadata field to let us know which OLPFs were used? I think that could be useful :)

yes that will come.. because you need to be able to change it if you set it wrong in the camera :)
