  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Inspire 2 looks killer

even the new phantom with integrated screen looks awesome, I didn't jump on the 4 because it didn't feel like an upgrade to the 3 pro enough, the 4 pro does look like an upgrade

4K at 60FPS
67 MPH
onboard FPV - a second camera in front so you can always see where the camera is going
Spotlight Pro tracking system

really impressive!

Im happy I did not buy that Mavi thing. This with the 5k camera will be nuts. Already the 4k raw camera was way better than I ever expected. Then all the navigation stuff, really like what DJI is doing, they push forward even when they already got quite a good distance between them and their followers. I like that attitude.

And GoPro Karma recalled, so yes DJI looking good right now.

I didnt see the price of the inspire 2, that is awesome

can someone explain what the fpv camera is for, this is the first time I have looked past the phantom series

Let's say you have two remote operators. One controls the gimbal/camera and one controls the flight of the drone. The FPV camera allows the drone pilot to see where the drone is heading while the other primary camera is looking all around at the images it is capturing. It can be a little disconcerting to only see what the camera sees.... AN ANALOGY: imagine a driver and a car passenger: You want the driver to keep his eye on the road and the passenger can sight-see and look around with their camera. Very dangerous to attempt both in some scenarios.

Think about it like a real pilot that flies the craft while the other pilot operates the camera.

yep makes sense now, I forgot about the 2 operator thing, which I guess would be 100% of the time

I read:
And when mounted on an Inspire 2 with the assistance of the drone’s image processor the camera is capable of recording 5.2K RAW video as 12-bit Adobe CinemaDNG.

Does this mean you will not get 5.2k raw on the handheld gimball?

Possible. Or possible that is why they are creating a special handheld for it.

"An all-new handheld camera mount** is compatible with the Zenmuse X4S and the Zenmuse X5S, bringing these cameras down to the ground for more flexible filmmaking."

I'm not sure if this means that it isn't compatible with the current OSMO -- so this is an OSMO for X5S, or if they are creating a way to use it for general filmmaking.

yes,
Just as you get 4k raw uncompressed on the current osmo with the X5

Looking at this this film that was shot entirely with the Inspire 2, I really don't know what to say.
Image is looking damn good for such a tiny camera. I don't know how much effort they have put in post to make it look this good but I bet they did a tremendous work.
And DP is no one else than Cladio Miranda.

How is the workflow with Cinema DNG Raw? Is it a pain? I just remember my old days with Canon 5D and ML. Used only once and stopped. Too cumbersome.
Much more prefer Red Raw, even with my Epic-W in 8K. My machine can play at 1/8 smoothly in Premiere.
