  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Incredible...

Question: Will the Fixed Scarlet come with a microphone? As it wasn't mentioned anywhere I guess not, right?

thank you for putting hand/neck strap connection on the bottom right, now I can eliminate the 1/4 tripod screw plate on my hand strap.

Does the Redmote also require hex screw to disconnect or another method to make it more snappy?

thanks,
KO

Rough idea of modules...

Note that there are two sizes of REDVOLT batteries.

I suppose, following apple's logic, that the bigger size battery will have slighty more capacity than two smaller ones.

Otherwise, what would its advantage be?

Can it still be carried on planes?

Two squeeze buttons (one on each side) and it is off.

Exhaust Fumes

Exhaust Fumes

Hey Jim,
The exhaust vent looks cool and I am sure these babys are gonna run hot. Heat will be a demon cause it's gonna mean the rig can't go in a housing(it will fog up) so most applications under water and in atmosphere(enclosed in a barrier rig) are going to be impossible. What are the figures on the heat generation and how much worse is it at highest frame rates. I can make incredible waterhousings but gonna be tricky coming up with one that has a cooling system (though not impossible) I'm freaking out right now having watched and waited for over a year hoping for a magic wand and it looks like you have made one but it may be too "Hot" to handle for a lot of us who do work in the water and on wet sets. Some of the existing rigs that run hot are restricted to 10 mins usage even when on standby. Come on Jim tell me you are gonna release the Red super water housing with in built cooling system and pressure venting valve … I KONW you can do it.:Angel_anim:

Looks to me like the heating vent is easily removed... So why not design a rig that hooks up to the intake and output, and circulate the heated air in a sealed ventilation tube along the outside of the housing using heat sinks to dissipate the heat into the surrounding water?

Might not work as well in open air, but at least for under water.

You have made lots of assumptions here...

Since the camera will record 5K at 100fps we need to provide for that. Heat is generated at all speeds but I wouldn't be concerned at 24fps in an UW housing (anymore than a RED ONE... actually less). The brain will "heat up" as you run up the frame rates (especially in the summer desert at high frame rates).

MMmm I guess time will tell, with a rig like this the prime application(for what I do) would be that great high frame rate to capture like never before. I am SURE you are across it but just the fact that a camera is black (gets hotter when exposed to direct sunlight) inside a housing will often cause fogging dramas, anyway it won't be any harder to deal with than housing a 4x5 with strobe and multi sheet feeder. Oh yeah the viewfinder is a fricken MASTERSTROKE!!!!

I'm a tiny bit concerned we haven't seen any Scarlet renders in quite some time. Makes me think the whole schedule has been shifted around, with Epic front and center, Scarlet on the back burner. I sincerely hope this is not confirmed come late October.

Yeah... Not one word about it.

Kind of a let down for me.

Hey Jim,
What's the biggest difference between the sensors Mysterium-X Select and Mysterium x? If there is any...
And also the Mysterium Monstro...
Cheers

Other than size differences, the main difference is "advancement". Each successive sensor will have a cleaner (less noisy) image which effectively increases latitude by having more useable info in the shadows. Dynamic Range is defined (scientifically) as signal/noise. Less noise is good.

As sensor technology advances, we decided to build a platform where you could upgrade to newer technology without buying a whole new camera... hence the "brains".

Specific details will be offered up (again) as we get closer to release.

See my post #254, on Page 26. I believe Jim's renders on Page 20 and 21 of this thread are indeed a Scarlet DSMC.

Any configuration shown can be either EPIC or Scarlet. The only difference will be the brain and adaptor. That's the beauty of this system.

Jim

Is there any chance REDMOTE could be operated sideways - switching monitor view and cursor functions ?
