  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Incredible...

What a thrilling ride! I'd hate to change the subject at this point... but... Would anyone else out there find it really cool to have a Super-8 style pistol grip for their Scarlet?

Never though of that before, but they were comfortable to hold.

I love shooting super 8 but I think that the rig would have to be incredibly lightweight for it to be effective in the same way.

To me what comes to mind as something similar and effective would be a pistol grip with a shoulder brace as well like the one that came with the K3 16mm camera. Maybe thats what the REDgunner is but I am talking about something very low tech here. Someone could probably make it on there own if they really wanted to.

From the looks of the handles in the renders Jim posted on the first page of this thread, it certainly seems possible. Mount the Bomb on top and you are there.

I still have my first Super 8 rig lol. A Red pistol grip would be good for run -n- gunning. But I'm looking forward to something a little heavier. If I'm going hand held I like more weight than a light camera. If the fixed Scarlet cost a little more so it can grow and be part of the "team" then so be it. I'm sure they could cut cost by making it bare bones but if they need to raise the price so it can link-up with all the goodies Red will dream up for it then I know most of us will be glad for the option to add to the fixed Vs sorry the fixed has no extra ports so we could meet the price point. $3950, $4,550... who knows? I've noticed food has gone up about 20% so the price of other goods should do the same. That is just the reality of the current market so just keep saving up or working for it. A fixed Scarlet will still cost me less than I spent on my last film transfer. Can't wait : )

I guess a monopod works the same way. I'm very keen to see what this red gunner is.

Me too, I think people have talked about them "bringing it back". Was it an idea that was thrown around in the early days of RED? If so what was its purpose supposed to be.

Either way it doesn't matter much to me because I will have more than enough for what I need based on what RED has already announced.

Still very excited to see whats in store. I was leaning towards bomb evf but will have to wait to make a decision based on price. I guess I could always mount the LCD on the side like is shown on Jim's first post in this thread and add something like this to the lcd

I love how much it can be customized. This reminds me of my tippmann 98 custom paintball gun from high school...endless possibilities.....haha

This thread started down a good path. It has a LOT of views for good reason. The announcement will come sometime this month. Why not hold off speculation (and any celebration or disappointment) until you know exactly what the situation is?

If this debate continues without any info whatsoever... I'll need to shut this thread down. That will really piss me off. Just so you know.

BTW... thanks Ian for helping to get this back under control.

Over 105,000 views in two days... wow.

Jim

It'll be over 100,000 views in one day when you actually announce the Release dates, prices, etc.

EDIT: I will account for at least 15,000 of those myself.

Believe it or not... refreshing does NOT count as a "view". If you shut down your browser and reopen... it does. Ever wonder how many different people are viewing this thread? Maybe I had better stop swearing... oops.

I wish there was a counter for us as individuals to see how many views we rack up. (and to think...I saw this thread first)
