  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

IBC - Dragon Epic and Scarlet Firmware V5.1.14 BETA

Black shading is done at 5k so 12 fps is the max, I always set shutter to 1/100 for BS that gives 1/24th to 1/425 with a green status , seems the best compromise especially for Epic, I do the same with scarlet . BTW 38 seems a little cold for doing the BS however I think thats the factory preset.
Great to know. Really appreciate the tip.

Regarding the temperature, that's the reading I got. Mmm... The camera had been on for almost an hour, fans set to adaptive mode (at 60C). The camera temp reading was something like 40/60C when I did the BS using "current FPS/Exposure". Does that make sense?

If you go to the Settings>Maintenance>Calibrate>Sensor Menu under calibration management, what is the current calibration map set to? (factory or user HS)

40/60 is a good place to be when BS (especially on V4) I just shot a feature & that was the target temperature. you might want to put target up a couple of degrees & try to BS again :D

Thanks again, Stephen, really appreciate your tips.

For adaptive, what would be a good place to set the target temperature in a place where the average outside temperature is in the 85-95 Fahrenheit range?

2. Loading my Build 4 presets somehow created some conflicts, especially regarding single focus operation. I have reset camera to Factory settings and created from scratch my presets for Build 5.

We strive to make old preset files compatible with newer builds. Do you still have your old preset files? If so, could you open a support ticket and send them in? Thanks.

I would do black shading with the left leading at about 42/43 , setting the adoptive temperature at 65 (default V5) will probably be about right, turn on the camera & see what it says after 20 minutes in adaptive. The ambient temperature will have some effect on this so doing it when the ambient is about 90 Fahrenheit will give you the best overall performance.

After update my LCD will no longer work with the +1 module - I can run it over the brain LCD port. The EVF works fine with the +1 module
Anyone have the same issue?

How do i get my fans back in manual mode on epic? under fan control there is only auto/adaptive/quiet preview and record. I really like being able to dial in the speed of the fans. Is this option gone? i really dont like adaptive mode as it still does what it wants. same thing with auto. Help? red team?

Thanks much.

Dom, guess you didn't read the last few pages. You can't under the current firmware. Yes the option is gone.

Roll back to the production software if you want that, plus you should be on production if you're out on paid jobs ;)

Well yea. Pretty much with that option gone, i wouldnt even use this firmware. Thats super lame. Tried it out and no bueno. well there goes a couple hours of my time.

Def gonna wait for production version. hopefully that option gets back in. other than that it looks great.

It's a nice preview, and once my motion mount arrives I may start using it, but I'll try to wait it out for the production version.

Finally decided to put the beta on my own camera after using it on other cameras, great stuff guys. You almost get a new camera with every update. The fan is much quiter with the Adaptive mode, plus the Redmote seems to be much more reliable after the updates. Had the mote off the camera for an couple of hours without problems, it just refreshes if there is a hiccup.

I had the lcd set to ' auto hide menu' mode, but as I powered on this morning it is now clean display so I can't do any adjustments. How can I get back my menus?is there a secret Button I should press? I'm supposed to be shooting today. Thank you !!!.

Les,

Did you apply some presets you saved from 4.0.x? We've discovered a minor incompatibility between presets that seems to reproduce the problem you are seeing, and are currently fixing it. Does your LCD behave correctly if you reset to factory defaults and don't apply any of your old presets? Note: the presets in the 4.0.x DSMC Resources package are also affected by this bug.

cool!
