  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How many Scarlet cameras a month

As Robert has mentioned, Red has been ramping up production on Scarlets (and everything else as well) to help fulfill orders more quickly. Buy February/March 2012 I imagine things in general will be much easier to acquire.[]

That's a music to my ears.
I don't have any project yet, but will be nice if that to happen.

Where do you get qty 4000 Scarlets sold? I'm only seeing 500+/- on The List. I hope they sell the stuffing out of this model since that will drive marketshare and provide R&D $ for Epic Dragon!!
 
I'm right there with you Eugene, my SO# is 8474.

However, before I ordered, I knew there would be a wait. I am confident in RED's ability to deliver, and know the wait will be worth it.

Being an early adopter of a new product has definite advantages. In this case it also means being patient as RED gets their production lines moving.
As others have said, one can always cancel their order until RED has a surplus of Scarlets on hand.

I would love to know how many Scarlets have been ordered so far, but have no reason to expect that information being made public.

As for me, I'm in for the long hall.

I officially ordered mine Dec. 14.

I understand what they've said. But i don't actually expect them to be out of backorder by the end of February either. As Much as I want to believe that they will. If I get my camera sometime in February then I will thank them dearly, I think a more realistic expectation is March/April. I hope I'm wrong, either way It's worth the wait for me.
 
It might not be such a bad thing that they haven't finished filling the November 3rd orders. Many have anticipated the scarlet for years. Not to mention that the scarlet they ended up shipping is far superior to what we previously thought it would be. I think it's safe to assume that on Nov 3rd, Red was flooded with orders from people with years of pent up scarlet-lust. By that logic, even if you ordered slightly less than a month after release (YO!) the rate of orders would have significantly tapered off after early November.

Except, keep in mind that it ended up being way more expensive than many people thought. I was prepared to order right away, but when I was surprised at the new specs and price, I held off to consider not knowing the deposit was refundable. I'm sure there were many others that had to wait a few days/weeks to re-evaluate at the new price. I'm actually pretty shocked so many people were ready to plop down the money on the spot given the major change - maybe they knew about the deposit policy or had anticipated the change. The 2/3 seemed like a very different market than the Epic-S.

To those who argued with me before this. I TOLD YOU SO.

I was being told February for my 4024 order, and now I'm starting to think later than that again. I was thinking April before...and that's fine.
 
Can't tell you how many Scarlets a month are shipped but I can tell you that I ordered after the big day and just got word today that it will be shipping within a few days. So much for the rumors of slow production and months before delivery. GO RED!!

Here's my logic:

I know of someone who received their Scarlet from RED Europe on the 16th of Jan (Ordered on the day SO below 1000). So thats a 74 day turnaround from order to delivery. I ordered on the 20th of December (SO 7,700) so I make that delivery around 1st March (not knowing whether or not production will increase). As the list suggests, there was an extremely large amount of orders on and around the 3rd so the fact that people are only just receiving their cameras now, doesn't necessarily mean that people who ordered a month after, will be waiting a month extra, as the density of the orders would have dissipated. My guess for me would be I will receive cam around 20th of Feb all being well.

But I too know nothing LOL

Ordered the little girl on Nov 9. ( #0053435) I listened to that slow stuff and got worried that it would be forever before it came. Since I couldn't wait (ants in pants) after REDucation Class in December, I ordered the ittle girl a Christmas present and ordered her a Big Brother (Epic). Sooooooo there you go. I'm thinking of starting a family called RED. (Or maybe join a family called RED! I drank the Kool Aid and it was Good & RED.

Exactly what I am thinking.
I see people are now asking what seems to me the right question: when did you order? I mean my SO is 58 752, and weather they go by how many accesories, cameras, or whatever RED is selling, I am sure that number does not mean my place in line. Ordered Dec 30th and other folks on the list around that date have a much lower SO. (i did order from Spain, but used american credit card, and address is in USA as well, not sure if that changes SO at all)

Serials seem to also pretty random, someone just unboxed #92! so I guess "when did you order" and "what mount" is only way to estimate here, no?

Thanks. My point in asking is this: I ordered my camera with a Scarlet Al mount on 11/7 (2 days before William); my SO is 0052959 (abut 500 before William). So, the fact that his order is Ti/PL makes all the difference. I have had most of my accessories shipped but still waiting for word on the camera. So, cameras are going out but mounts are something of a determining factor in what order they are doing so.
