So I've talked about my inability to hot swap with the sidehandle on my Scarlet with a redvolt and the ac power adapter or the lemo AB plate.

Summary:
With redvolt in I an plug in any kind of LEMO power and the camera switches to that from the Redvolt automatically. But if I pull the lemo power, the camera shuts down.

I tried everything to fix it and finally sent the log file to Red once I was unsuccessful.

My Red tech support rep said the tech engineers want my camera and sidehandle back to test it.
I just received the sidehandle last week and have a heavy month of actuall paying gigs starting this weekend.
So I am just going to work around it for now.

Anyone else put in a support ticket for this problem. I know a lot of Epic users have this prolem.

Scarlet #804

After my mount problems and glitches and sending it back I thought I was in the clear. I experienced this problem twice already where my brick died and camera powered down even though I had a full charged RedVolt in the SideHandle. I'm hoping I don't have to send it in again with my SH, that would be the second time within a month. I love RED but it sounds like I need to get ahold of RMA again, and these glitches get a bit tiresome.

Hey Ryan,
We just received our side handle today and seem to be experiencing the same issue with either the AC adapter or AB rear mounted battery. I am going to turn a support ticket today. Though the hot swap feature is definitely handy, it is not that big an issue to us. None of our previous cameras ever had that feature, so we are used to powering down to reconfigure the camera. I will probably wait until our second camera arrives before sending it in. Good luck with your upcoming projects!!!

I also experienced this the other day, going from AC to Sidehandle. I haven't had a chance to test it again though...

Hopefully just a firmware fix...

If you do a search, that's actually almost everyone that's experiencing the same thing.

If that's the case, why does RED need the cameras returned. They should be able to replicate this issue in-house.... after they send my Scarlet of course :-)

I am having this problem too - which reulted in an improper shut down. I tried to pull out AC with a redvolt in the sidehandle and the camera shut down.

does this warrant a support ticket?

Mike:

I agree. I haven't bothered to open a support ticket precisely because it's so widespread that seems to be a firmware issue of sorts, and I need my Scarlet. Epic owners are also plagued by this like Doug states.

Julio: Does your Epic hot swap going from AC-to-REDVolt or from a battery plate setup? The reason I ask is because some have managed to hot-swap fine from RED Bricks to REDVolts or from AB to RV. Please provide your setup. Thanks

I do hope they do not ask you to pay to send it back so that they may repair their error.

I hope it is a firmware fix, but I have a feeling it is a poor connection problem with a lot of sidehandles.
What would make it usable with too much trouble would be a menu that lets you pick the power source, that way you could manually swap back and forth, before pulling the plug.
Seems like a firmware update could do that.

Im not convinced its a a connection problem because that would show itself while u r using the sidehandle only - which I have not had any issues with thus fa

anyway i just filed my support ticket...

Same issue here. Really hoping it is firmware.. I've got a fair number of things lined up right now.

Same here. Hot swap not possible. Is there a final answer from the support wether its a firmware or a hardware problem?
Thank you,
Marc

Has a single Scarlet ever had this work correctly ?
My Cam is going back for another reason, should I file a ticket to get two problems fixed at the same time ?
