I have begun posting RED history in Recon/"Thoughts and Tips". I'll be updating it regularly for those that have any interest.

Jim

Isn't "Red History" an oxymoron? :001_smile:

Very cool, Jim. I really appreciate the view to the inside. And also a little funny - I'm developing an interactive HTML5 timeline template and was using RED's history as a self-instructive subject. Maybe I'll get that finished up soon...

Someone needs to do a documentary.
RED documentary would be so neat. The little bit of footage available on the http://www.red.com/history/ page is just like some sort of cruel teaser for those that want to know "The Story Behind the Cameras"

Thanks Jim for the work you have done and inspired, it has enabled so many of us excel in our own work. I have thoroughly enjoyed being a small part of the RED story.

To the Next chapter

Seems worth of a documentary; too bad there aren't more filmmakers around here! :)

Jim, I think you guys mentioned at one point that you've been documenting everything along the way (in 4K, I trust). Any RED documentaries in the works?

Always interesting. Some people pass through history, some people make history. You are obviously in the second category. Next time I'm on US I'm definitely going to Red Studios !
And maybe get lucky enough to meet some of you guys.

So much accomplished in so short time, incredible!

Do you have a feeling now that job was done and it is time to sit and enjoy accomplishment
or you have a feeling that this is just a short stop to take the quick breath and continue since it is so much ahead of you?

I couldn't help but notice that you mention at least 3 directors, but only one cinematographer. I do realize that you take great pride in having well known directors as customers and fans, and rightfully so, but I would also say that cinematographers are the ones who create the images with the cameras you make. Perhaps they deserve a bit more credit when you're writing the history of how it all came to be what it is today and in the future. Just a thought...

There he is! Hi Mike. I am confident Jim won't forget you in Red's history either. None of us will :)

When did Jarred come to Red?

Quite a coincidence, I read through the entire thoughts and tips yesterday and found it to be, among other things, a very pleasant reminder of RED's recent history. In fact I was thinking about suggesting that a few others read it at the height of the "Keep Your RED ONE ...." thread, which was more like a run down the gauntlet of eternal banishment. Anyway, great idea.
