I was curious as to wether anyone was using these Hired Gun Vmounts with their Epic/Scarlet as I am about to get these. http://www.videoproshop.biz/index.html The price of two 150wh batteries and charger is quite resonable.

No problem, glad i could help.

I'm using one with their single charger and it's been working without a hitch.

Nice found

Pretty sure Hired Gun, GMP, Beillen and others are just re-brands of the same chinese battery, they certainly all look the same minus the sticker. That said, why not get them cheapest from the source? I got two of these from ebay, and they seem to work well on my Scarlet. I just ordered two more even though the price went up $15.

No tax no shipping, no wiretransfer like GMP, and I get back $5 in ebay bucks and $2.5 back on my credit card compared to wiretansfer which costs extra... This makes them well over $65 cheaper per battery than GMP or Hired Gun, more if you count the charger etc

they also have them without the charger I just noticed, but $30 is great for the charger when Hired gun charges $60-100 and GMP charges $50 plus shipping.

You do have to wait for shipping from China though, but I guess GMP ships from NZ which must take a while as well?

GMP is a little bit cheaper. But not much.

It really depends, though. If you are in the US it costs $0 for shipping/insurance to buy from these guys and they take paypal.

GMP charged us $100 to ship, plus our bank charged a $35 wire fee, plus we had to cover their wire fee of $22.

All told, we paid $885 for 2x Red V-Mounts and the 2 Battery charger. That's basically a wash with the prices for Hired Gun batteries and you are probably paying more if your purchase is any less than that from GMP.

I'll be ordering from Hired Gun from here on out unless GMP updates to at least a late 20th century purchase policy.

Oh wow, I didn't know that.

Thanks for the info :)

Also I have used Hired Gun batteries on RED ONEs and they were generally fine though the quad charger had some trouble as one of the charging positions stopped working but that was probably just from misuse or heavy wear.

that is really sweet! I am guessing these would not give any info on the scarlet LCD in terms of remaining batt, as opposed to the Hired Gun ones, right? Just checking. This thread is f'ing great.

They give voltage readout on scarlet which is more than REDONE gave, it is pretty easy to figure out battery capacity remaining based on voltage even if it isnt a percent value with 1% accuracy.

You don't need to get the RED versions do you? That will just show how much battery is left on the camera, right?

Right, my understanding is that with DSMCs (unlike RED ONE) any power source will give voltage readout, the special RED chip is only needed for percentage, so far this appears to be true.

Thanks Noah for your post. I was looking at the "Hired Gun" and going, that's definitely the same as my GMP stuff.
So I'll look into the ebay link you sent through.

Best

Damn - I literally just finished my wire transfer to GMP 10 minutes ago, before tripping over this thread. Oh well. But good find, indeed. I ordered three 230WH Vmounts from GMP...so I got an 8% discount for ordering over $1,000. Total was $1223 with shipping. I guess I can take heart in the fact that Hired Gun doesn't offer 230WH, so I can convince myself that I had no choice.

I have been shooting with some older IDX enduras that the Scarlet chewed through in like 45 minutes when I had a Bartech/M-One rigged up. It was making me crazy. I was on a mission to get the biggest batteries I could find.

I need a plate too, right? Also how long would 150 WH, on Scarlet last?

You should get a plate, though with those batteries it is possible to power the camera just from the d-tap on the battery using the DSMC XLR power adapter cable and an XLR-to-dtap adapter cable. I use such a setup but plug into the d-tap on my battery plate rather than on the battery since that makes more sense if you have a plate.

In the test I did the Beillen 150WH battery I got on ebay lasted about 2hrs 45min (165min) with the camera mostly in idle powering just the camera body, SSD and REDMOTE. Same setup showed ~55W on my kill-a-watt AC power meter hooked up to the AC power adapter. Basically I would expect batteries to last about 1min per WH on the battery, so (150min for 150WH battery, 30min for 30WH REDVOLT, etc). This may change if they improve power saving in new firmwares though.
