  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hired Gun 150wh Vmount

Just got the Hired Gun 4 pack red batteries wiith charger. They work beautifully. Highly recommended.

Pretty sure Hired Gun, GMP, Beillen and others are just re-brands of the same chinese battery, they certainly all look the same minus the sticker. That said, why not get them cheapest from the source? I got two of these from ebay, and they seem to work well on my Scarlet. I just ordered two more even though the price went up $15.

No tax no shipping, no wiretransfer like GMP, and I get back $5 in ebay bucks and $2.5 back on my credit card compared to wiretansfer which costs extra... This makes them well over $65 cheaper per battery than GMP or Hired Gun, more if you count the charger etc

they also have them without the charger I just noticed, but $30 is great for the charger when Hired gun charges $60-100 and GMP charges $50 plus shipping.

You do have to wait for shipping from China though, but I guess GMP ships from NZ which must take a while as well?

Wow nice find :)

I have a bunch of these and they work just fine - they hold a charge as well as any other battery that I own (though time will tell). As for the readout on Scarlet / Epic they show #Volts remaining and it's not rocket science to figure out remaining charge / when to swap out for a fresh battery… Full charge = 15V, Camera shuts down at 11.5V, Swap out at 12.5V and everything is fine.

what is the average recharge time on a 150wh battery?

i just bought a charger from hired gun with two of the red batteries. i was wondering does it work like the red charger where it fills it most of the way then trickle charges back and forth between the two batteries. is that ok for the batteries or should i just place one on at a time?

I bought the 150wh non red Hired Gun batteries to use in conjunction with the WC V-mount plate. My Scarlet indicator light shows it's receiving a charge but when I try to power on the camera the EF mount tries to focus, the fan starts up as if the camera is powering on and then the camera just shuts down. The battery is fully charged.

When I power up using a redvolt via the side handle with a v-mount attached, in the power management drop down it reads the v-mount but it shows the charge at 0%, again the battery is fully charged.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Anyone using their AB batteries with the Scarlet/Epic? They say their "red compatible" batteries are built to be 100% compatible, but I wonder what the real difference is between those and the normal ones, of which I'm looking at the Anton Bauer mount version. Theoretically they should work just fine... as AB, Beillen, GMP etc work well.

Thanks guys

I need a plate too, right? Also how long would 150 WH, on Scarlet last?

Hey Pat,

Just take your total Watt/Hour 150 and divide the watt output of your SX, in the Scarlet's case its 60: 150Wh / 60w = Approx 2.5 hrs of run time.
(Please concur if this is accurate).

Hope this helps.

Hey there Chris,

We have GMP Chargers, and our 160Wh bricks charges approx 3 45mins per brick....So hopefully you can use this as a gauge for your 150. i'm thinking approx 3.25-3.5hrs.

Hey Steven,

Just a heads up...I just got a Customs Duty Invoice for an additional $63.28 for an order of approx $1000.

Marq

Damn - I literally just finished my wire transfer to GMP 10 minutes ago, before tripping over this thread. Oh well. But good find, indeed. I ordered three 230WH Vmounts from GMP...so I got an 8% discount for ordering over $1,000. Total was $1223 with shipping. I guess I can take heart in the fact that Hired Gun doesn't offer 230WH, so I can convince myself that I had no choice.

I have been shooting with some older IDX enduras that the Scarlet chewed through in like 45 minutes when I had a Bartech/M-One rigged up. It was making me crazy. I was on a mission to get the biggest batteries I could find.

I bought the non-Red camera lithium ion batteries, and first of all I can't turn on the camera with these batteries. I can turn my camera on with the sidehandle, and then attach the battery and it gets power from the battery. But unfortunately it doesn't show voltage (or rather it freezes to whatever amount was left when I attached the batteries.

Thanks for the head's up, Marq...I got one too. Jesper, that's unfortunate. I wonder if the batteries aren't putting out the correct voltage or maybe the plate isn't...have you checked the camera with other vmount batteries?

Actually I haven't. I should try that, but I'm pretty sure it's the batteries.

Jasper,

I'm having the exact same problem but I don't have access to any other V-mount batteries to test. I'm guessing it's the batteries as well. Let me know what you find.

Thanks,

Hi,

we just received three GlobalmediaPro Batteries 230Wh each RR Version for RED.

Since the RED DSMC Battery Belt was backordered at that time we also ordered a V-Mount plate which now has to be wired with the lemo for the Scarlet-X correctly.
The lemo pin layout is well documented in the manual so we now need the pin layout of the V-Mount to connect properly.
On the camera side the lemo plug (6-pin) is wired as stated: 1 and 2 are positive, 4 and 5 are ground - so 3 an 6 go to what pins on the V-Mount ?!?

The 5 pins (on the V-Mount Plate) use 1 and 5 for plus and minus as far as I know.
So the three pins inbetween are for % information ? Which pins are used and how are they connected ?
Does anybody have the RED DSMC Battery Belt as a wiring reference and can use a voltmeter to check the wiring scheme ?

This would be a great help !

Thank you very much !
